Fantastic finale. Breaking Bad is alone at the top of the TV mountain for me, along with The Wire.
Photobucket sucks.

Best show ever, yes.  Even though loose ends we're tied up, I think the finale left a lot to be desired.  Largely it was too predictable, especially in a show where predictable was not the norm.  At least that's my initial feeling.

Mine as well. The only real surprise for me in this episode was Elliot and Gretchin. I thought it was great how Walt came clean with the fact that he actually enjoyed what he was doing, as well as revealed where to find Hank and Gomez. There's still 69 million dollars hiding somewhere.

Well said, my thoughts exactly. Wouldn't call it the best show ever though.

I don't think being predictable is a bad thing. Especially in a finale like this.

But what was the point of watching the last 45 minutes if I could already see it coming?  Grey Matter was the only twist.  Wasn't expecting a big twist, just something less straight forward.

I want to know who the guy was at Marie's when she called Skyler.  Did she move on that quickly?

I guess I just figured it was some sort of law enforcement officer keeping an eye on her.

Same here, she called saying about the different calls and she telling them that he'd probably be in 3 places. It made sense it was just some DEA/whatever guy there.

Absolutely amazing finish.  Could not have been any better.

The final shot of Walt lying there dead while the camera panned up was just perfect.  I will never will be able to hear Baby Blue again without thinking of Walter White.

Best show ever. :hefdaddy :hefdaddy

Not going to look at any other posts before or after this for obvious reasons, but just wanted to stop by and say due to all the buzz from every single corner of my life I've picked up seasons 1 and 2 of BB. Looking forward to starting them soon.

Yeah even though a lot of the finale was straightforward I think it was the only way to go. It left me very satisfied, and the shot of Walt laying there surrounded by what he truly loved was heartbreaking. However, he won. His family got the money, he and Jesse left on not-completely-wanting-to-kill-each-other terms, and he killed every person who had done him wrong in the meth business.

Walt's actions were sort of a good thing in that regard-- he took out almost all of Albuquerque's meth kingpins, and then the master kingpin at the end--himself.

I thought it was a pretty run-of-the-mill episode for this series. It was satisfying, yes, but it was far less satisfying that I was hoping for. It was also, as mentioned, incredibly predictable. I'm quite underwhelmed by the episode, which is the opposite of what I was expecting.

But at least it wasn't horrible like the finale of Dexter was. :lol

I don't think there was a need for it to be "unpredictable". It would have been so weird for it to end in a way other than this, I think.

Exactly.  Ozymandias, for all intents and purposes, was the climax of the show, and these last two episodes were the epilogue.

Never seen a second of this show. Maybe i'll start once they're all on Netflix.

I'm not really into serials - but if it's only 62 episodes in total then it might be worth a shot.

I can't be bothered starting serials that have like 8 seasons of 24 episodes each.  **

If it's short then it's more do-able and It doesn't take a huge commitment to watch it all.

** I once tried to start watching LOST but gave up after 10 episodes as it was going nowhere.

Breaking Bad only gets better and better and better as it goes on.  That sounds like overhyping, but it really isn't.  After I had gotten through Season 2, my two cousins (who were instrumental in getting me to watch the show) both told me, "It only gets better," and I thought that seemed impossible, but somehow it did.

Okay, back to spoilers.

The final shot from Crawling Space near the end of Season 4:

The final shot of the series:

Both shots panned upward.  Pretty awesome stuff.

Panning is left/right, those shots zoom out :P

In a way, yes.  The finale was very un-Breaking Bad in the sense that it was very predictable, but I think this is the way it had to go.  If it throws in a twist ending just for the sake of having a twist then we're in the territory of ruining the whole series for everyone instead of just damaging the final episode for a few.

I'm letting the finale sink in before I fully comment.  I'll say this.  It was definitely somewhat predictable and not all that much of a surprise ending, but I think they did it that way on purpose.  For many seasons, Walt was able to pull off crazy stunts flawlessly -- from bombing the nursing home, to using magnets to wipe out the computer, to orchestrating hits inside of a jail.  When he really puts his mind to it, he coordinates the perfect crimes.  As he told skyler, he was "really good at it."  So, going into the finale, we all know that walt needs to kill lydia and jack's men -- and that he's extremely motivated to do so after stewing in the new hampshire cabin for all those months.  He's had more than enough time for his brilliant mind to plot it out perfectly.  That being said, of course he got the job done.  Any other outcome would have been silly, in my opinion.  Walt is a criminal genius -- and he proved it in the finale as his final crimes went off perfectly.
