That was arguably the best episode of any TV show that I've ever seen.

Walt totally knew the cops were there when he called Skyler. He intentionally made himself look like more of monster in an attempt to save her.

I still argue that Walt's still cancer free.

Great show.  So many emotions in one episode.  Walter Jr's first real acting.  The duct tape on the had was so funny and for some reason that dog or what ever that was lumbering across the street at the end of the episode was odd.

There is no way in hell that Walt honestly thought there were no cops listening to that phone call. Fuck, Jr called them as he was kidnapping his daughter. First off, he took all the blame for the operation. He conveniently left the car wash and Skyler's involvement out of the story. And he worded Hank's disappearance in such a way that made him look 100% responsible.

If he still had cancer, and was in fact going to be dead soon, why would he have called in for a new identity AND keep the money that is suppose to be for his family. Wouldn't he have buried it/hid it agin if his ticket was being called soon?

He lost his family, like the poem the episode's title refers to he has no empire, no nothing anymore. With how self-serving and egocentric he has become, would it be a stretch to think he said "well fuck it, this is all mine now"?

Yeah. And I was surprised at how well he did.

Best episode of the season thus far, for me! 2 episodes left :caffeine:

That was the best hour of television ever.  My God.  I think I was nearly shaking for much of that episode, because it was so intense and riveting.  When it was over, I just sat there, stunned, not believing what I had just seen.

I really don't see the Walt doesn't have cancer argument.  There was a scene of him going through chemo.  Why would he fake that with no one around?

Of course he has cancer; it is silly to argue otherwise.  Hell, even in the flash forward from the first episode of Season 5 (the scene at Denny's), he is still coughing, which is a sign that the cancer is back.

My god that was painful.

I don't even want to watch the next 2 episodes, it's gonna be  too much for me  :-\ :-\
I imagined the story to go more like this.

I was sitting a traffic light blaring Space Dye Vest and next to me in another car was Kevin Moore. And I'll never be open again.

It's gonna be hard to top tonight'e episode.

I can't believe that Jesse's fate will be being held hostage to cook and be tortured.  That would be a very unsatisfying arc for his character.  I gotta think he will get free at some point and kill Todd, which would be poetic justice for Todd since Jesse was the one who was so pissed at him for killing Drew Sharp (the kid on the bike following the freight train heist).

I think it is likely that Walt eventually comes back to kill Jack and his crew (as shown in the flash forward where he got the assault weaponry at Denny's), most likely because of actions Jack is still likely to take in the future regarding the confession tape Jesse made that is still at Hank and Marie's.

But the question still remains: for whom is the ricin?  Considering how important the ricin has been all along, that will play a pivotal role in the finale, you just know it.

Predictions for next week...

-Walt has new identity (obviously through Saul's guy)
-Marie kills herself (mostly a hunch, but she was already so depressed before Hank died, and she's been wearing lots of black, etc)
-Next episode is going to be where we catch up with the earlier foreshadowing of him with hair and new glasses and a rifle in his trunk.
-I DO believe his cancer is back.
-Jesse is going to be hesitant, and possibly not show the Nazis how to cook properly fast enough for Walt's rescue...

Endgame predictions...

-It's clear that Walt STILL has feelings for his family, (getting Skylar off the hook, returning Holly)
-Walt is going to try to rescue Jesse, and probably die trying
-Somehow (haven't figured this one out yet) his family is going to get a large chunk of the $11million that he has. (maybe through a rescued Jesse)

Basically we're where we started. Walt has died, but before dying, he leaves his family with enough money to go on without him. Just like the initial plan.

About the whole Todd/Nazis/Lydia thing, here's how I think it's going to play out.

- The Nazis and Lydia have a disagreement for some reason, and it becomes very heated
- Todd, with his unreciprocated infatuation with Lydia, chooses her over his uncle and kills the entire crew, solidifying his role in the show as a very capable murderer who can be very single minded
- But Lydia being Lydia, doesn't give up her vag for Todd

Not sure what happens to Todd and Lydia, but i'm pretty sure that the nazis will be taken out by Todd. They have too little relevance to the entire series to have an "epic showdown" with the DEA or anything that's too climatic. They've already had their limelight, now let them go without too much of a fuss.

Walt doesn't care about Jesse, why rescue him?

Walt putting that act on for the police over the phone call is the best thing I've seen from this series. So much emotion and pain...Gilligan really doesn't know whether to make us hate or love Walt.

We should entertain the possibility that it could be just a red herring...

Though if its not, I'm going to say it's going into Lydia's tea.

He could blast his way through Uncle Jack and company for what they did to Hank, and when face to face with Jesse, show him the ricin, shove it in Jesse's mouth, and then set him free. It'll take about three days for Jesse to die so he either waits it out in complete depression or ends up having to kill himself. A nice little hell given to him by Walter.

I am absolutely terrible at guessing things though and this is half in jest so I fully expect it to be nothing like that whatsoever. :lol

Absolutely breathtaking, beautifully constructed episode. It was tortuous and I loved every single second. With each episode, it becomes my favorite, but this one stomped all others. On one hand, I cannot wait to see what kind of destruction comes next, but on the other, I shudder at the thought of it. This is television at its finest, in every way.
