Only in America.
« on: July 16, 2011, 08:36:57 AM »
I have never been a Larry The Cable guy fan, I find that his stand up gets stale quick. I DVR'd a few episodes of his show and I must say it's awesome. It's funny as hell as well as really interesting. Anyone else a viewer?

Never bothered because I never liked his stand up, but I might give it a go today.

I haven't bothered with this show because I'm not a huge fan of his standup (although I must admit that I find the other Blue Collar comics pretty funny), but I've been meaning to check it out.
Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

I never really liked watching him honestly. I'm more of a fan of Louis CK and Bill Burr.

Seen a couple episodes. Not bad, although Larry gets a little old at times (and I don't mind his stand up).

I think he's better on the show than in his standup. Standup is just a continuation of his over the top persona he created for the Bubba the Love Sponge show. I'm not a  fan. I do enjoy the other Blue Collar comics though. Especially Ron White.

Ron White is friggin' hilarious.

I also really like Bill Engvall.  Both his standup and his CMT show Country-Fried Home Videos.  The videos are funny, but his commentary is even better.

I dislike this dude, which has stopped me from seeing this show. The only Blue Collar Comedy dude I find remotely funny is Ron White.

The show isn't bad. If you listen though, whenever he is doing something that requires his concentration he forgets to fake his accent.

I love Jeff Foxworthy and Ron White, but I can't stand Bill Engval. Bill gets on too many moral soapboxes with his standup. He comes across as an arrogant prick, especially when he's talking about my generation. Some of what he says about today's youth are true, but he doesn't have to be a jerk about it. He just seems to have the typical "those damn kids today" old man attitude, and it's really annoying after a while.

But Larry...Larry's alright if you don't take him seriously. He makes me laugh sometimes.
Gadough isn't Hitler. He's much, much worse.

The funniest thing I ever heard from Larry was the following, and it made me laugh so hard I thought I was gonna freakin' die!

"I took my grandma to church the other day, and we got there late. She got outta the car and said "Is mass out?" And I said "No but your hats on crooked!""

Funny, funny joke!  :lol

Umm.. this guy from somewhere in the South, who operates independently on YouTube from his back porch, well, he's something.  I'd recommend you check him out, and it'll explain itself: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nsMvfhWVOcc  :lol

White (guys is just ridiculous)
Engvall (I like his style, smooth)
Foxworthy (gets a little bland for me but is still great)
Larry (great at first, but gets stale rather fast)

Yeah, I agree that his comedic flavor can get a bit stale after a while, but the show is fairly entertaining, for what it is.

'After a while' is the key part for Larry. He's super funny at first, but if I had to do that act for years I would go insane.

Then again, this act doesn't last as long as he has: https://youtu.be/Nqm-vKWEkoU

Did he start out on Bubba? I despise Bubba.

A few years back I won tickets to see Larry do stand up (and I actually got to meet him too, which was cool), and I must say, seeing him live he was 99x funnier than on TV. I think they generally edit him down the most repetitive character based model of himself on TV, which makes sense, but I actually really enjoyed seeing him in person.

White - I just don't like his sarcastic up yours persona.  Reminds me too much of some people I know.  I just don't find jokes about getting kicked out of bars and rich wives that funny.
Engvall - I love his stuff.
Foxworthy - Pretty funny but gets a little cheesy.
Larry - As a person that is quite familiar with rednecks (there's a whole slew of 'em in my family), I just can't get enough of this dude.
When I die, I want to go peacefully in my sleep just like my grandfather, and not like the screaming passengers in his car!

White- Love him except when his dickish political views start creeping in. Still hilarious though (tater!)
Engvall- Can't stand him, comes across as one of those annoying guys who thinks he's a lot funnier than he really is
Foxworthy- Alright, pretty generic material but sells it well enough
Larry- Funny personality, laughably dumb material :lolpalm:
