Rush-Permanent Waves
Black Sabbath-Heaven And Hell
Iron Maiden-Iron Maiden
AC/DC-Back In Black
Genesis-Duke

This was a pretty hard year to pick from!

Mighty kingdoms rise, but they all will fall, no more than a breath on the wind.

Whoever doesn't choose AC/DC - Back In Black is incorrect.

Hells Bells?
Shoot to Thrill?
Back In Black?
Shook Me All Night Long?
Rock And Roll Ain't Noise Pollution?

Hey Zeus that's one hell of a record.  In any year, let alone 1980.

Wait, AC/DC has more than one song?

Dire Straits - Making Movies
The Police - Zenyattà Mondatta
Iron Maiden - Iron Maiden
Rush - Permanent Waves
Black Sabbath - Heaven and Hell

What?  No other votes for Turn of a Friendly Card?  I thought this would do better with all the prog heads on this board.

I like it a lot but it wasn't top 5 for me.

I feel APP blew the majority of their creative load on their first album.  There was some to go around on I-Robot, but that's it, AFAIC.

Baa.  I didn't like their first album with the whole Edgar Allan Poe thing.  Turn of a Friendly Card is awesome I liked Ammonia Avenue a lot as well.

Well, I hope we can agree that the stuff he did in the 90s was bunk.  Because it was.

I disagree.  Try Anything Once was a very good album.

I really really wish more people loved Xanadu, but I'm forever alone.

1. Olivia Newton-John and Electric Light Orchestra - Xanadu
2. Queen - The Game
3. Def Leppard - On Through the Night
4. Billy Joel - Glass Houses
5. AC/DC - Back in Black

Honorable Mentions:
ABBA - Super Trouper
Van Halen - Women and Children First
Pat Benatar - Crimes of Passion
Iron Maiden - Iron Maiden

Unfortunately, that seems to be the case, as it is the "wrong kind" of 80s reverb-y cheez-whiz for this forum.

Ah, well.  I'll be blasting my copy of Closer, regardless.

You know I loved that 8 track.  I listened to it ALL the time.  But I wasn't sure a movie soundtrack would qualify.  Plus I don't think it would beat my top 5.

You edit Journey's Departure into your list and I'll add Seger's?
