Album of the Year 1979 - nomination phase
« on: July 08, 2011, 12:28:50 PM »
Rules:
-Post your 5 favorite albums from 1979; the order does not matter.  If you only like less than 5, list those.  Just no more than 5.
-List the band name first and then the album name.  Like this: Band name - Album name
-If you change your mind, edit your original post.  Do not post them again.
-Only studio and live albums will be counted; no best of, compilations, etc.
-Posts that you do not follow these rules will not be counted.

Nomination phase will last two days

Joe's Garage might suffer from not being heard by enough people, although I think enough people know it and will nominate it for it to get to the second round.

Anyway:

Pink Floyd - The Wall
Frank Zappa - Joe's Garage
Judas Priest - Unleashed in the East
Talking Heads - Fear of Music
The Police - Reggatta de Blanc

If there was one album from this year I'd want to make everyone on this forum sit down and listen to, it's Unknown Pleasures. That album is unlike anything else, as is its successor, Closer (1980).

If only Frank Zappa's music was on spotify I woulda checked it out long ago. He has so many studio records I dunno where to start though, I should do a discovery runthrough one of these days.
