Just got my Spotify started tonight.

So... Any experienced users want to guide a virgin through it?
1. Type in an artists name
2. ???
3. Profit

I also like to just grab a user made playlist from the site I linked above. For example, if you type in 'folk' you will find playlists of 4 hours containing 100 different folk artists.

Eh, disappointing of them. They say stupid things like "Physical sales are dropping drastically in all countries where Spotify is active" ignoring the fact that physical sales are dropping in ALL countries, because of the rise in digital sales. If they think everyone is going to start buying more of their albums now, they're very much mistaken.

It feels to me like it's the label that wants more money, the artists could need the exposure.

Cristina Scabbia of Lacuna Coil was apparently pretty upset about their music being pulled from Spotify. When some one on her FB asked her what she thought she said "don't get me started"...

It sucks balls. IO has Transatlantic, Frost*, Evergrey, Neal Morse, Redemption,  and a handful more I wanted to check out through Spotify. Ugh

....it's really easy to get playlists or new music.

Explain this to me please. I just have Spotify Free right now so I can check it out, see how it works, etc. It's cool that I can listen to whole new albums to see how they are and such. Yeah, the commercial interruptions during an album are there, but the ads pay for me to use it free.

ANYWAY,

There are frequently ads to "subscribe to" such-and-such a playlist (which they feature/link to in the bottom corner). HOW do i browse for and subscribe to all these playlists? As far as I can see, there is nowhere in the Spotify interface to look for/browse all these playlists.  I see elsewhere in this thread, there was a website dedicated to playlists. So, to actually use Spotify to discover music, I have to have Spotify open, and also visit/bookmark several playlist-listing websites? That seems short-sighted.  If I'm wrong, please tell me where I'm missing this feature. Or, list a few outside websites that let you search for playlists by styles or bands so I can hear "new-to-me" related bands and such.

Got my spotify working.  Using this time to listen to Iconoclast.

Gonna have to do that soon myself!

Also - sucks about Inside Out.

Also also - found out there's no Bob Segar on this sumbitch either!

it's a great way to showcase the drum sound by introducing the album with that awesome drumming and sound.

I use the site, don't think there is a way to find user made playlists in the programme itself.

And yea, sucks about insideout. Thought I was having memory problems for a moment. I booted it up to listen to PoS but suddenly there was no PoS on Spotify, even though I could've sworn I listened to them on it before. Of course I have the mp3 files but I just like using Spotify for everything, saves me the hassle of turning on my hard drive and using winamp :p.

If you connect Spotify to your Facebook you can browse your friends' playlists inside Spotify. Otherwise you can get playlists through sites like sharemyplaylists.com.

Pretty please with a cherry on top and a lovely big smile

Please check out my band Kotow's album on Spotify

Demise Of The Monsters.

Yes, we used DFH and Logic amps but that's the sound we were after. Next one will be much more organic :)

Thank you DTF !  :hefdaddy

Dunno when I'll actually listen, but I've added it to my playlist collection, so it'll happen eventually. Do you have a thread in GMD for your band?

Track 6 is probably my favourite for all the detuning fans... It's in Drop Ab  :omg:

Most of the album is E standard though..

Got an unlimited subscription, as I actually used up my 10 hours for the first time this month. There's so many insane trance albums on here, and they're at least 2 discs long. I have found heaven.

You only get 10 hours a month?  I feel like I've used Spotify way more than that.
"All great works are prepared in the desert, including the redemption of the world. The precursors, the followers, the Master Himself, all obeyed or have to obey one and the same law. Prophets, apostles, preachers, martyrs, pioneers of knowledge, inspired artists in every art, ordinary men and the Man-God, all pay tribute to loneliness, to the life of silence, to the night." - A. This, are you sure it's only 10 hours a month?  I know last month alone I listened to at least 20 albums.  Most of which were at least a half hour long.

Look at the upper right corner of the player, it says how much time you have left.

edit: maybe it's 20 hours.

edit2: nevermind:

When you open a new Spotify free account, you will, for the first 6 months be able to access and stream music from the entire Spotify catalogue for an unlimited amount of hours. When you listen to music streamed from our servers the music licensing costs are supported by audio and visual ads.

After these first 6 months there will be some limitations. Here’s how it works:
Each month your will receive 10 hours of free streaming. You will then receive 2,5 additional hours every week. If you do not use your hours, these will pile up for you to use later, the maximum saved time will be 10 hours. In addition, each individual track can only be streamed 5 times in total. We hope that this will still give you a great opportunity to share and discover new music, and to keep your musical options wide open.

I got my account last year when I was in the UK, that's why the time limit hit me.

Spotify Premium ftw. :D

+1

I <3 the mobile app.

Are InsideOut and Century Media still avoiding this?  I've tried to find some InsideOut stuff on there before and always come up emptyhanded... I guess this is why.

So ridiculous and backwards thinking of them.

That doesn't sound so bad.  The only thing that looks like it sucks is the not being able to stream a song after listening to it 5 times. Oh well, I guess I have Grooveshark.

InsideOut stuff used to be on there, they took it all off. Or most of it anyway, it does seem like select albums are still on there.

Premium at £10 a month which gives you higher quality streams

Which is complete crap.
