Album of the Year 1977 - nomination phase over
« on: July 02, 2011, 11:55:45 PM »
Another stellar year for music!

Rules:
-Post your 5 favorite albums from 1977; the order does not matter.  If you only like less than 5, list those.  Just no more than 5.
-List the band name first and then the album name.  Like this: Band name - Album name
-If you change your mind, edit your original post.  Do not post them again.
-Only studio and live albums will be counted; no best of, compilations, etc.
-Posts that you do not follow these rules will not be counted.

Nomination phase will last two days.

My picks:

Steely Dan - Aja
Rush - A Farewell to Kings
Kansas - Point of Know Return
Pink Floyd - Animals
Styx - The Grand Illusion

David Bowie - Low
Pink Floyd - Animals
Television - Marquee Moon
Weather Report - Heavy Weather
Bob Marley & the Wailers - Exodus

Iggy Pop, Kraftwerk and Sex Pistols narrowly missing out.
on par with the anguish one would have from getting unconsensually bent over and buttloved.

ATTN: People who aren't nominating Rumours: You have no souls.

I like that album, but I probably like 9 or 10 albums from that year more.  Like just about every other year in the 70s, 1977 was a great year for music, and with so many great albums, it really just comes down to personal preference.  Plus, being that I didn't get into Fleetwood Mac until after seeing their live thing, The Dance, in the late 90s, some of the studio versions just come off as a bit limp to me.  The live versions simply have more oomph to them (even if they were spruced up by background singers and players).

I was going to say that too(shit,I used to dance to it when I was a little kid) but I thought soundtracks were a no-go.  If that is not the case, Kev, please say so and I will adjust my original post.
