DT Tour 2011 - Do You Feel Like Dancing Taping?

Alright. In four days the long anticipated and much awaited tour will kick off in Rome. Then, the DT airplane will cross the European continent for about a month, warming its engines for the much longer world tour that will most likely begin this fall with the North American Leg.

As you all know for sure (and the band made sure to make this point extremely clear), this is really a monumental moment in DT history. There's a new song that will be played live along with many old DT tunes (hopefully well chosen), a new keyboard for JR, a new haircut for JLB that is sure to make many ladies (and some gentlemen too) fall in ecstatic contemplation. But most of all, there's a new member behind the kit. We know his chops, but will he be able to be just as outstanding live on stage as he is in the studio or during clinics? And furthermore, will MP's absence be felt during the shows?

Things are heating up in DT land. A new single has been released and all evidence point towards one or two LONG epics being played this summer. The band is leaving for Rome in a couple of days.

So, all that nonsense being said, it is quite sure that July 2011 is going to be an especially special month for us DT fans, and most of us would surely like to have some kind of long lasting record of the live events that are to take place in a few days.

This leads us to the point of this thread: everyone who is going to tape the show/s he will attend, or is aware of someone taping a particoular show, please, write here. I'm including the list of all the scheduled tour dates. I will highlight a show in red if we know for sure that it is going to be taped (whether by a DTF member or not), in green if it is going to be filmed (by the audience, of course).

Basically, this thread is meant to be a place where to coordinate and gather all information about what will or won't be recorded and things like that.
As the tour progresses, I will open another thread on Bootlegs and Trading where to include (within the rules of this forum and respecting the will of the taper) the links to the places where anyone will be able to download the live bootlegs.

and all evidence point towards one or two LONG epics being played this summer.

What evidence is that? Not being a wise guy, just asking, perhaps I missed something.
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related

I will try to film one or two songs from High Voltage!  :) Plus there should be a live CD available from site as they get Concert Live to record them, if anyone wants them I will happily buy them on site and post them afterwards for a few people on here.  Wasteland are you bootlegging the two Italy shows?

You should ask a g-mod or an administrator about that, I'm not sure whether the High Voltage Live CDs are to be considered official/forbidden live material (and therefore banned). I surely hope they are not.

Unfortunately it's not me who is going to tape the two Italian shows, but the administrator of the biggest italian DT forum. I could not afford the flight from Cagliari to Rome... :(

Well, it's not that I am 100% sure that something really big is going to get played, but there are some things that definitely hint towards that:
- Jordan asked some months ago on Twitter which was our favourite DT epic.
- After a while he himself said that he had just rediscovered how awesome Octavarium is.
- Jordan's touring rig features the lap steel guitar, which as of 2009 has only been used in Octavarium. There may be some lap steel in the new album, but we now that the entire ADTOE is not to be played for a while (and there is no LSG on On The Bakcs Of Angels either), which leads us back to Octavarium. (otherwise, it would have made little sense to bring on tour an instrument that will not be used until the next leg)
- Mike Mangini said a couple of days ago that he is in the process of learning a "HUGE DT epic". Assuming that by huge Mike means huge in lenght, the choice narrows to ACOS, 8V and ITPOE.

None of this hints is really final, but personally, I would bet on something big being played. Wouldn't you? :lol

The lap steel may mean Peruvian Skies on during the festival tour...

I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

I wouldn't be so sure about this... Peruvian Skies was played before and after 2005 without the lap steel. I think that the Peruvian Jam was just a 2005 think, just like the Zappa Jam (fucking amazing, btw) in BTL was just a 2004 extravaganza.

But then, again, I could be wrong, but I am still betting on Octavarium (&/or ACOS). You know, wishful thinking...  :)

I don't really understand the difference between red and green highlights. Doesn't green mean the same thing as red.

Sorry if I'm being annoying.

EDIT: Never mind I think I get it. I'm assuming by taped you mean audio recording and filmed you mean by camera, obviously.

I'd like to know if I should be looking for a copy of the show I'm going to.

Well I will try and shoot some videos in manchester & london. Still missing a couple of songs to make the complete songlist of their european leg: 6:00, The root of all evil, Silent man, Beneath the surface, Pull me under, Wait for sleep, Far from heaven.

Got some good seats so I should be able to get some decent shots

Going on the trends of the setlists, I think Manchester will get A so you may finish them.

Manchester is difficult to tape. In 2009 saw a few people being told to stop. Saw a guy their with professional equipment too but I can't remember him being told to stop. Hopefully he is there again because it was on Dime the next day!

Hi all, first post on here but now that I've finally got my hands on some half-decent video software and spent a few hours getting used to it, I thought you might appreciate this.

Video from the Glasgow show (plus one from High Voltage last summer): https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL2FB168CE4CFF7B0D

I will most likely be getting footage of either the SF show, Philly, or both. i took video of the whole SF show last leg, and my doing so this time depends on where i am in the theater. with philly we have seats, so more likely there. also depends on how much A differs from B, might not want 2 whole shows of many same songs. ill keep u up to date tho.
