Wives/Girlfriends & DTF
« on: June 30, 2011, 10:08:23 PM »
Does anybody else get a hard time from their household partners over spending too much time on DTF? I have that problem and I'm not even on for more than an hour a day during my time off. I'm always here on my work month but I really have to sneak around to get here on my off month.
Right now I kinda have to minimize and pretend like I'm sending an e-mail. She knows what DTF looks like and she sees it from afar.
I don't have that much trouble with porn dagnabit.
I wouldn't want somebody with 18 kids to mow my damn lawn, based on a longstanding bias I have against crazy fucks.

Whenever I start talking to a new girl, I make sure to never mention DTF. My friends know not t as well. If angirl had any Internet sense and actually read through my posts I'd be ruined.

Oh it started out that way Cody, then I made the mistake of actually calling her over to the computer to check something out on DTF, first few times it was "Ah interesting" and then it turned into "So that's what you prefer to do in your spare time?" then to the dreadful "I guess I'm not as interesting as your forums".
I used to mention things I heard or learned about from here. Now I don't.
And now I gotta go again cause I think Law & Order is over.

That is sick. Why I have to hide my interests and my hobby which is music only because of my girlfriend? I'm honest with her, if I want to do some bass practice I do, if I want to spend some time on DTF I spend. For now, it's ok, but if somethings will change from her side... I will still stick to my opinion.

It's generally what's doing the work getting around the site, it's also what has to lift the banhammer.

Oh she doesn't have any problem if my "alone time" is bass/guitar practice or PS3 gaming. Just the forums.
And I understand, I don't find it invasive of my privacy cause I do get caught in debates and such and cannot just walk out on conversations but she believes I can since "this is just internet". That's actually the core of the problem.

Chino if I was a chick I'd be more in love with you after browsing through your DTF posts :lol

Long distance relationship. So that kinda makes it easer. Hell, I've linked her to a few threads on here and she enjoys it.

Also she loves DT. Nary a problem to be had.

Of course Dream Theater isn't that good. Good music is obviously about 3 minute pop songs and catchy hooks.
Dream Theater aren't that good. Neither was Beethoven, or Mozart, or Bach. Pfft, 20 minute epics. Who needs that?

Well, my girlfriend from a few years back hated music I listened to.

This was before I became a big DT fan.

One day, we were sending links to songs, she sent me alot of mainstream stuff. I listened to it, (didn't like it), but I respected her music views. I send her a Led Zep song, (can't remember which one), and she didn't listen to it, and that she hates "old" music.

Just imagine if I had shown her DT. 42 minutes??!?!?! WHAT!??

when i had one... She started off bot caring about me and DTF... and then started to get more and annoyed with it (and my obsession with DT as well)... she calls/ed me obsessed and addicted... (i told her its better than crack)... and now she rolls her eyes when she sees me typing... because she knows I am on DTF... and sooner or later I will, even though we arent together, show her stuff from here...

shit i need to move out.

:heart DTF
I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

But he shouldn't have a problem with it considering that he spends a lot of his free time on...Well, some pretty twisted websites.
