There's an announcement that there's going to be an announcement?

Yes.  It is a pre-announcement.

Hope the dates go on sale after the holidays.  Between Christmas gifts and tax bills being due, people need to replenish their bank accounts a bit.

Hopefully the shows are well attended across the country. Profitability and success would mean they could do it again in the
future.

Maybe he emtee was speaking 'Evening With' format? If it's successful this tour then they'd just stick with it rather than have supporting acts to draw in folks?

Certainly. It's been awhile since an evening with format though. If it goes well they will feel confident about doing it again.
If not they will probably opt for an opener or two than can help fill the seats.

pleeeeeeease add some Aussie dates later     We missed out on the ADTOE tour and if we miss out this time I might need to channel my inner Yngwie and unleash the f&*$ing  fury  ;D

Sydney and their pathetic turnouts are reducing the attractiveness of touring Australia but a few acts have figured out what to do - concentrate on Melbourne and (for wolfking) Brisbane.   Hell - Steel panther can pack in 7,500 down here no probs (and the other night packed out Myer Music Bowl on the same night as Bon Jovi had 45,000 at Docklands).

Unfortunately, that is how DT has been operating lately. At least we don't have to wait months like for the DVD (unless they delay the whole US tour  :omg:).

There's nothing pathetic about Sydney's turnouts, and that has nothing to do with bands not coming here. :tdwn The problem is just that we're a shithole country to tour in general, due to only having a handful of real cities (Sydney easily being one of the biggest and most important to play for any band that tours here), and a whole bunch of nothing inbetween, meaning it's a lot of travel for very few shows.

That's a lie. I built a stage in my backyard for DT to play, and they never came. I even posted arrow signs and everything so they knew where to go.

Hope they play somewhere better in Philly this time. I'm not driving through the murder capitol of the world (Camden) and several areas of Philly which are probably just as bad / if not worse to see DT again.

My fingers are crossed for a show either at the Greek Theater again in Hollywood (like in '09) or for the Santa Barbara Bowl in Santa Barbara (a little smaller than the Greek but just as beautiful).
I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

Last tour they played here 3? 4 times? Once at the Nokia Theater (LA) and The Grove (Anahiem), and then the Grove again and then at The Gibson in Studio City :)

I'm just tired of driving down to / through LA. Santa Barbara would be AWESOME...

You forgot San Diego!   :P
As a basic rule, if you hate it, you must solely blame Portnoy. If it's good, then you must downplay MP's contribution to the band as not being important anyway, or claim he's just lying. It's the DTF way.
