I was just thinking, what are the chances that they will do Space Dye Vest on this tour? You know, just JLB and JR.

Or was that just a one-off thing?
AFAIK, it was just a one-off thing.  I would be shocked if they did it on the tour.

I recall Jordan saying not to count on SDV being played on this tour...

So, Switzerland today Guys ;) Zurich, location Komplex 457.

https://www.komplex457.ch/

Show starts at 8pm EET ;) Anathema opening again. Look at those pictures from the inside. "Der saal" looks not so big, but I think it's a nice place ;) And it's not a festival right? Only DT show.

I don't really like to quote myself, but:

To say it all, I definitely see The Ytse Jam coming back to life.

:metal

petrucci07

So apparently they've been using "Dream Is Collapsing" by Hans Zimmer from the Inception soundtrack as an intro tape.
Fucking COOL

DarkLord_Lalinc

LaBrie looks thin from the videos and pics I've seen. Good for him.

I may be wrong, though. :lol

last month in Los Angeles I asked Jordan directly if other cities in the US would be able to see SDV live and he told me "ah, I wouldn't count on it"

chrisbDTM

JP pretty much has backing vocals on lock (for these songs). all is well in DT land

The Curious Orange

Hullo - Count of Tuscany as an encore and no Learning to Live? I'd have felt a little short changed if I'd have been there...

Yes, definitely. I wonder if DT (or just some several members) are fond of the film in general; but the usage of the soundtrack as the intro tape is amazing.

You know, I am in love with that movie. Completely and lostly  :lol

The first time I saw it (went twice to the cinema in two weeks) I though: "Oh my god, this is so Dream Theater  :omg:"

SystematicThought

What's up with using video from Scenes From A Memory on the screen for Learning To Live?

So, as I understand it, the first shows were billed as "Dream Theater" shows, with tonight being the first festival show, correct?  With the warmup shows out of the way, I would think they will likely have some shorter set times at some of these festivals.  I am interested to see what they do with the set lists.  I would guess TCOT will be cut, but I wonder what else they'll change.

Yep Bosk, you're perfectly right. They got only 1 hour today, they play before Airbourne (their show is on other stage) and Slipknot (they played on the same stage as DT).  Show starts at 21:20...or 21:15 ;) I'm very curious about tonight setlist. It has 2 hours now, TCOT will be gone IMO, maybe Caught In A Web and Forsaken... Peruvian Skies is great live song, it should stay. Just like These Walls and SFAM songs.

Closing with The Great Debate?  Huh.
That is really weird.

Tonight they will open with the Drum Solo and close with This Walls  :rollin

So the master setlist has increased with Metropolis.  Very cool.  My guess is that they are adding songs via practicing during sound check.

2Timer

Really hoping TW and Forsaken are staying in for the US leg. They're two that I haven't seen live yet that I really want to.

Addy

Guys, I've been thinking about this lately. I've seen a lot of bands playing their songs live in lower tunings to help the vocalist in reaching higher pitches. Metallica for example plays some songs a half step down, and some of them are tuned a whole step down. Do you think it'd be a good idea if DT dropped (EDIT: lowered is what I meant - Eb standard, D standard etc.) their tuning for songs off of I&W and maybe Awake ? I mean, watching the clips from this tour, JLB is really in best shape in years, but sometimes he sounds like he's struggling during UAGM or LtL, and at the same time he's killer during rest of the set !
I wonder what you think !

Ħ

This might be a good idea.  Usually I can't tell a key difference if I don't have a reference point.  But I think the best way to go would be to sing the vocal melodies differently and just keep the instruments the same.

The Silent Cody

Well this could be a good way out, but They probably are aware of that - if You trying to tune down, some notes in lower tuning are just not the same like before tuning. I mean, the same frets on guitar - not always the same and good note connection...

?

I agree, DT should tune songs down so they could play more difficult songs for James like Learning to Live more often. I actually made a thread like this some time ago but it was about tuning down songs on the Awake tour after James' vocal rupture.

Jamesman42

I was think about this too.

The only thing is that some songs may have riffs that you need the standard tuning for, such as using open notes on the guitar/bass for hammer-ons and pull-offs.
\o\ lol /o/

nikatapi

You can always use a lower standard tuning and not dropped.
