It's like Six Degrees, Images and Elements Of Persuasion. This is in my opinion, INCREDIBLE. Honestly, I love Constant Motion and A Rite of Passage. But this is on another level. As far as the lyrics, I dig them and I'm betting on either James or Petrucci.

What can I say? Way better than I expected. It's neither a poppy single nor a ballsy album opener. It's definitely more melodic than anything from BC&SL or SC, and easily reminds me of the pre-ToT days. I love how the song mixes some beautiful melodic keys & vox with that occasional djent-ish riff. It's heavy, but not too heavy. Basically how DT were back in the day. And the drums are just awesome. They're not too loud or too 'everywhere' if you get what I mean. They're just there, and they sound awesome. Then there's the fact that the bass is quite easily audible.

So if this is what they're showing us first up, I can't wait to hear what the rest of the album is going to have!

Because the final artwork might not even be done yet. I'm simply saying people shouldn't get their hopes up or down based on what we don't even know is the actual cover.

James sounds wonderful, and he's on the backing vocals at last.
JP and JR are amazing as usual.
JM is kicking major asses and is actually audible.
MM's parts are so progressive and incredible.

To the people saying the drums sound quiet - wait until the album comes out. The Youtube compression is bad for drum sounds.

Reminded me of Awake in terms of not necessarily getting it the first listen (Which is good), with FII production values, though more modern of course, almost like most of SDoIT. I think this album as a whole will have its own awesome sound!!!

Everyone... the drums are mixed just fine. Two things to remember:

1. Portnoy was mixed too loudly.

2. Youtube only streams 2.1 audio!

Heard it twice now. This album will surely be filled with experimentation and stunning creativity! Also, like James said, I really do think it sounds like Images & Words and Scenes.
Mix is amazing! Even in YT, it sounds extraordinary.
