Which song prevails? Child in Time vs. Dreamer Deceiver

This question/comparison  just kind of hit me tonight.  While I've know both songs for decades, studio and live, I've never quite thought they were so close in comparison or connection.  I was walking my pup tonight, and was listening to Dreamer Deceiver.  The song structure similarities to Child in Time all of the sudden fell into place.  I think instrumentally Child in Time is a bit more complex, but vocally?  While I'm sure for most folks Child in Time is more popular and well known, I would hope you will give both songs an equal un-objective listen before coming to a decision.  So...take a moment...listen to both track comparatively.

For me?  I'm not sure which reigns supreme.  That being said, I think they are very close....probably more close than some would think.  Especially if you include multiple live versions.

I also voted for Dreamer Deceiver which is one of my favourite Judas Priest songs. However I love both songs, they both are masterpieces in my opinion. It's indeed very close.

I'm almost voting for DD just in celebration that it's getting some love.  I LOVE that song.   On it's face, this is Child In Time, just because it's so iconic.  But it's not that easy....

I have to say I feel pretty much the same way. In a poll v Child in Time this should be no contest. Just amazing how diverse opinions are sometimes.

I think both songs are fantastic, but I'll give the edge to Child In Time.

Roger Glover has been pretty candid that it's this song:  "Bombay Calling" by a band called "It's A Beautiful Day"

I think it's no real surprise that Sabbath were like older brothers to Priest, since they come from similar places geographically and culturally.

Interesting.  Surprisingly I've never heard the Heep song.  What a great song!  Besides the one section of high vocals I don't see the similarity though.  But like you say, "Inspiration"  As far as Planet Caravan I can see the influence in the first few measures but that's about it.
