My biggest issue with the 80s is that the radio songs were mostly garbage. If you really dig deep and go into some underground music, there are mines upon mines of gems that all stem from the 1980s.

Depeche Mode
The Cure
OMD
Simple Minds
etc

Bands like these were all absolutely phenomenal.

Depeche Mode, The Cure, New Order, The Sisters of Mercy, The Smiths, and Bauhaus are all glaring examples of amazing 80s music.

The only thing I really liked from the 80s was thrash metal and early death metal. Not much of it though.

synth rock AND gothic rock. the whole spectrum!

nah seriously, I've been lazy with the 80s. I really need to check out some of those bands. I'll start by getting more Depeche Mode albums  :millahhhh

Ummmm

Pop music from the 80s was pretty shit, but there was still a plethora of good music that came out then, just as every other decade.

Haha, I kinda have to agree.
"All great works are prepared in the desert, including the redemption of the world. The precursors, the followers, the Master Himself, all obeyed or have to obey one and the same law. Prophets, apostles, preachers, martyrs, pioneers of knowledge, inspired artists in every art, ordinary men and the Man-God, all pay tribute to loneliness, to the life of silence, to the night." - A. I don't listen to very much 80s music, but to be honest I haven't done enough listening and exploration in the decade to support or scoff the notion of it blowing rhinoceros cock.  I'm a bit too wrapped up in the current music scene, but I've got a fair amount of 80s music that I enjoy and a modest proportion of that ought to end up on this list at some point down the line.

The 80's shits on all the other decades. It could easily take both the 00's and 70's in a fight while scaring off the 90's with extreme metal vocals.

I forgot to mention Jaco Pastorius. He was also with Weather Report until the first quarter of the 80s, then went on to lead his own big band.
