An Italian Dream Theater Thread
« on: June 08, 2011, 07:53:47 AM »

Saluti
DreamerTV

For mods and Admins
Since dreamtheaterforums.org is an international forum, here we used to talk in english. This is surely the best way to enable everyone to take part into conversations. But is a fact that non english speaking users may have problems in writing and understanding what we are saying here. So, as an italian user, i would like to have a little space where we can actually translate main news from the forum in our language, to discuss them and eventually to give our first impressions about the first two concert in Italy, the very first with Mike Mangini, sharing photos and videos. This would likely bring new users to the forum, giving it a more "international" profile. So, here we are, or at least, here i am, waiting for italian users reactions and to ear what you think about it, if it's the case to mantein it, or to move it in another part of the forum.

Cheers

A me va bene, è sempre bello ritrovare i propri compatrioti in terra straniera  :)

I'm ok with this idea. Let's see what bosk and the other think of your suggestion ;) !

Vivere in Sardegna spesso causa problemi...

@rene: ahaha, actually mangini has a lot of the gesture which are often found in italian-americans. But believe me, most of the italians nowadays are nowhere as weird and funny while talking as he is.
Oh.. emh... There's something I'd like to know: assuming that you are english-speaking, how much of what we just wrote in italian you managed to understand (or somehow grasp the meaning) ? Just a curiosity of mine  :lol

Sorry, I speak Spanish so I think I understand a little bit more than english-speakers: "I'll do it, hoping that the admins (something about them intending something) close the thread".

Regarding the concert in July, I can't go (and it really disgusts me, since I have not bein able to go to any concert of theirs). I have a very important exam at the university, and the other my (I don´t know what) will cost almost 300 euros. Living in Serdena causes problems sometimes..."

@reneranucci: you nailed almost everything, that's really impressive!  :omg: However, Sardegna is "Sardinia" in english (but indeed Cerdena in spanish!)
I'm curious to see if other users (driven here out of curiosity  ::) ) can figure out something. The idea came to me while I was reading TheSilentCody's posts in polish and not being able to understand a single word  :lol

@DreamerTV: lo spero anche io...

There seems to be some kind of popoular consensus towards this thread. That's great, I love the idea of our common passion for Dream Theater being the trigger for some degree of cultural interaction! if things carry on well some may even be made aware of what a "pepperoni pizza" is supposed to be (and yet is not  )

---

Vedremo.

It's something i've always tried to suggest since a couple of years, when i used to post in an italian forum. It's surreal that when media were limitated fanclubs would have cooperate much more than now, at least it seems. This is not a fanclub, but it would likely rapresent a wider common place. Meanwhile i've asked Bosk1 to move the thread in the Sticky Topic section, to give it a certain visibility and to not lose it among all the other threads. We'll see...

Well, I just want to take the opportunity to say "welcome!" to the Italian DT fans on this site.  I've been talking to DreamerTV (at least, I think it was him) about the Italian DT boards for awhile now.  Cool thread.  The only issue is, since it is in a language the mod staff don't understand, if people start reporting posts, I don't really have the ability to say whether they violate the rules or not, so I will have no choice but to lock the thread.  Hopefully, it doesn't get to that point.  Anyhow, cheers, everyone!

Reactions about ADTOE title and tracklist in the Italian Forums?. Do you see a bigger attendance ad DT summer shows in Italy than PN09?.

Although I have only been in Rome for a year, I have often encountered two people or a group that appears to be yelling at each other. They're not yelling. It's a regular conversation. When two people in Rome are actually yelling at each other "you will know".

Ahaha, yeah, I suppose we're not the quintessential quiet people, but this too is an assumption not to be held as true in any place. Italy is a very diverse place, in terms of local culture and attitude of the dwellers. An italian prime minister said 150 years ago "Italy has been made. Now we have to make the Italians" As of 2011, this statement is still partially true.

---

This is actually true for half of italy, the south part. As my roots are from south but i live in the north my girlfriend always complain for the loudness of my normal conversation voice. It's not something intentional, it's like swedens are blond with blu eyes south italians have a loud conversation voice.

---

Sinceramente all'inizio mi ha deluso.

-------------------------

To be honest, at first i was disappointed
But after I listened to it few times I have to say that it's a great song. One of the best single they've ever made since SDOIT, expecially if you compare it to songs like AROP, CM or PoW, or NE....
The song is great!

E' successo praticamente a tutti!

---

The same thing happened to nearly everyone. Disappointed at the first run through the song, just to come to love it after 6-7 listenings! I believe that this is indeed meaningful...
