8V I think. It fits with the photos we've seen of JR using the lap steel in his keyboard rig.

Yes, but that very shot does not make 8V a last minute add, if it was already reharsed or elsewhere decided to be played at the time of the reharsals. Anyway, I could be horribly wrong here :lol

Perhaps it is ACOS. I sincerely hope it is, but I don't want to get my hopes up. Only time will tell...

If it is ACOS, I really hope it is a staple of the US tour. Been wanting to see that song live ever since I became a fan.

I just had a vision about JP playing that opening melody to ACoS and a crowd going fucking insane, with me in the center of it.

So if this epic IS ACoS, I really hope I can see it live.  It would just be a monumental moment in my concert-going life.  Actually, the same goes true for Octavarium and Learning to Live, but I bet ACoS would get the biggest response from the fans at large since it hasn't been played live in any part since the 2003/04 tour.

Wait wait wait till you hear the rest of the DT album... oh my... but please enjoy On the Backs of Angels as it was my 1st recorded song and I can't wait until you hear it in person! There aren't enough hours in the day for me before leaving for Rome. I'm learning a HUGE DT epic (last min. add) to throw in this tour :) ahhhhh!!!

From Mike Mangini!!
Huge DT epic.... ACOS?!?!?!

ACOS. its gotta beeee

i dunno thats kinda Portnoys personal song it might bother a few fans. Im guessing Octavarium, its a better song anyways
He wrote the lyrics, but it was a long time ago.  That is a true DT song, not just an MP song.
Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

Neither of those would surprise me.  I tend to think it is ACOS simply because it is such a huge fan favorite.  But another part of me thinks it is Octavarium because that song is also incredibly well-liked AND has only been played in its entirely on the 8VM tour.

I remember him saying that he had just discovered again how amazing Octavarium was. And yes, I definitely recall that happening. It was, like, February, wasn't it?

I personally prefer Octavarium over a Change of Seasons, actually.  But I have a feeling it's going to be ACOS. Way more of a fan favorite, and it hasn't been played live in quite a while.

OMG. If Mangini is talking about acos, ltl, or 8v and they play either one of them when i see them soon, I will die a happy man.

BTW, can we get a link for that statement?

I'd like to hear ACOS, because I haven't heard that one yet. I've already heard 8vm and LTL (in the same show), but honestly, any one of those 3 would be AMAZING.

ACOS/8VM is a win win no matter what.

when i get home (where twitter isnt blocked) ill figure out exactly what JR said. i even remember him saying something about ACOS and 8VM being the favorites

also ive never considered LTL an epic. its awesome, but i dont think its on ACOS/8VM level epic

I wouldn't mind 8vm and ACoS...but I would prefer 8vm just a tiny bit more to hear Razors Edge.

Imagine what a letdown it will be if Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence is the HUGE DT epic Mangini is talking about, rather than A Change of Seasons or Octavarium.

Holy cow.  If you copy and paste the high res image it's really huge.  And you get get a close look at all the details.  Beautiful.

I actually quite like it. I mean, it's not amazing, but (1) it's not busy, and is pretty simple, and (2) the colour scheme is very bright. These things make me happy.

I really hope MM is learning ACOS only because I'd want to see/hear him play the over-dubbed drum parts in the first part with the octabans! That would be pretty amazing to see!

Oh wow there is. And the gloves look kinda like clipart or something. I need to stop full viewing this. I'm finding all these little things that don't look right and it's going to ruin it for me.

HD picture is just beautiful, I love the clouds. The wing of the plane is I think animated a bit, sth like a cartoon for me ;) very nice indeed, but as I said in the other topic, I was expecting sth totally different ;)

Nope. No black bar. :neverusethis:

As I said in the other thread, I think that the artwork is OK. Nothing really special, but the brightness of it is a nice change.

the little errors arent a big deal. we should only be seeing cd size, but we are in an age where we are given supersized versions to scrutinize.

looks beautiful in HQ

also wiki says its hugh syme, but obviously that's not official. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hugh_Syme

I assumed it was a wing because I assumed the plane was turning, thus having one wing above the clouds.  But now that you mention it, maybe it does look more like a tail than a wing in general shape.  I'm not sure.
