Wow, wikipedia has suddenly got a lot more info than yesterday on the track listings: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Dramatic_Turn_of_Events

I dont think any of the track lengths are real tbh. Although I really hope OTBOA isnt 46 seconds long

It's a scarcity thing. I don't think we collectively "like" a certain type of song any more than another - but on the heels of the long-song apocalypse of Black Clouds & Silver Linings, which succeeds an album featuring the 25-minute long In the Presence of Enemies (and the 15 minute long Ministry of Lost Souls), which is the direct successor to Octavarium, we're a little oversaturated on the sprawling epics as of right now.
