I love how the last section in the history section on the band's Wikipedia page is now called "The Departure of Mike Portnoy and A Dramatic Turn of Events".  :lol

I was the one who made that edit, :lol I'm a wiki-freak.

I'm not judging the album by the titles. The title right now seems iffy to me, but it will grow on me as September 13th approaches, and after hearing the album it nulls all judging anyway. Every DT album to me has been great, besides FII, but they never had that much label influence before or after, and we all know they won't let it happen again.

And to those who were disappointed by JLB's comment about "most fun recording since Awake", for SC. He was commenting on the fun he had recording, not his opinion on the music, and even if he was, you're forgetting that the band themselves have their own opinions on their own music and it (get ready for a mindfuck guys) may not match yours! Didn't think that one through did you! With all due respect of course.

That's my $.02CAD.

Considering that there hasn't been an instrumental for the past three albums, it's not guaranteed that this album has one, either.

My bet, though, is that The Shaman's Trance will be a controversial DT song, with many people loving it but many others hating it.

It'll be one of those crazy songs with Petrucci tearing down trees in 7/8 and Myung farting in 3/4.

The only thing that gets weird with the no discussing "leaked" material rule is people tend to push the limits. I remember when Black Clouds leaked people would find little ways to have nuggets from the Black Clouds lyrics in their posts. People would say things like, "when I finally get this album I'm gonna put it right in my car and go for a ride across the open countryside." Then, people's "speculations" started to get strangly spot-on. "I have a really, really good feeling that The Best of Times is going to have a big Rush feel to it."  :P

If I remember correctly, though, their were instances where both groups of people where told to knock it off.

The Shaman's Trance WON'T be instrumental.

Hold me to THAT.

I concur. While it would be an amazing name for a psychedelic instrumental it is more likely a Petrucci penned song along the lines of Forsaken or The Ministry of Lost Souls.

I like to rhyme,
I like my beats funky,
I'm spunky. I like my oatmeal lumpy.
I'm sick wit dis, straight gangsta mack
but sometimes I get ridiculous
I'll eat up all your crackers and your licorice
hey yo fat girl, c'mere--are ya ticklish?
Yeah, I called ya fat.
Look at me, I'm skinny
It never stopped me from gettin' busy
I'm a freak
I like the girls with the boom
I once got busy in a Burger King bathroom
I'm crazy.
Allow me to amaze thee.
They say I'm ugly but it just don't faze me.
I'm still gettin' in the girls' pants
and I even got my own dance
{Chorus:}
The shaman's trance is your chance to do the trance
Do the shaman's trance, come on and do the shaman's trance
Do the shaman's trance, just watch me do the shaman's trance
Do ya know what I'm doin', doin' the shaman's trance
Do the shaman's trance, do the shaman's trance

*puts on hat*

Move it up and move it down
Shake your body to the ground
Build me up and break me down
James LaBrie has come to town

Digging holes and screaming high
With a wizard and a silent guy
A fucking bear but he's real nice
And a guy that "OHHHHHHH's" every night

We back with that new album attack
Done with linings and clouds so black
We saying the past few months is whack
But I hope they don't try to talk too much smack

Keyboard solos and instrumental breaks
Like driving the speed of light with broken brakes

Guitar noodles and bass so low
Drum fills every 2 seconds to follow

Oh snap! Here comes the standard mid-song change
Gonna go dig some holes on the range

*noodling*

*solos (about 7 or 8)

And so we take this song to close
Leaving y'all on the backs of angels

This has been fun, but we gotta go
Need to lead the bear to the fishing hole

Next time I'll try to make more sense
In this coming dramatic turn of events

Don't be scared, don't wet ya pants
Something about the shaman's trance

WHOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAG#

(dat's rite, i went thurr)
