I can see this having potential. Also, was I the only one that screamed OKAMI when they showed the pre-rendered vid? There were so many Okami references in there.

I also think release in 1.5 year though. Curious to see what happens. I can see this going a lot of ways.

I am stunned though that they didn't mention any potential Nintendo titles (except for possibly Zelda; as it was hinted in the trailer for the WiiU. and SSB)

I seem to remember some rumors floating around that Skyward Sword was gonna pull another Twilight Princess, with a release on both consoles.

There was also a new Metro (2033) game announced. I think this third party lineup is about as good as all the third party wii games from the past years combined.

As far as pressure on Microsoft and Sony to release a new console, I don't think that's likely.  In terms of power, of course, the Wii U will be superior.  However, I think this console is more a catch-up release than a next generation console.  Based on the videos, I'd say the gap (graphically) between the Wii and current gen is larger than the gap between the current gen and the new Wii U.

There was also a new Metro (2033) game announced. I think this third party lineup is about as good as all the third party wii games from the past years combined.

I agree, now that Nintendo has beefed up, developers see the system as more comparable to the current generation.  No more watered down ports and off-shoot titles!

That would make sense from a marketing standpoint. Releasing such a blockbuster game right before a new console is released could be seen as wasted potential. I'd like to see it released for both, and I've always had a suspicion that it might.

Yeah, it seems that SS will be somewhat compatible with the new features of WiiU. Maybe not to the extent of other games for it, but it seems we'll get something out of it.

This is how I feel, pretty much verbatim. I'm very interested to see how this all turns out.

Honestly, at this point I'm more excited about all the new 3DS games than the Wii U. :lol

Its the opposite for me. I don't care too much about the 3DS at the moment. I havent heard too many great things about the system, and I don't plan on getting one until the price goes way down.

I don't see myself getting any new console/handheld in the near future but if I ever have spare cash the Wii U seems more interesting than the 3DS. Although the latter seems to have some really cool games coming up.

On Wikipedia it says that Smash Bros 4 will also be released on the 3DS. Is there any truth to this?

Cool. A Smash Bros on handheld is quite adventurous...but this is Nintendo, I'm sure they'll make it work.

Another question, was Pikmin 3 mentioned at all? Last I heard it was still in development.

If they were going to reveal it, they'd do it at the press conference. Also, Wii U is a horrid name.

Not really. I think we all knew "Wii" would be in the name, and the Wii 2 would have just been lazy.

The Zelda in the WiiU trailer could have just been a tech demo, like the one when the GameCube came out.

SS looks like it's going to be nothing special.  I'll get it, but I doubt it will rank higher than the other console games.

One the first, point, not necessarily. The year Smash Bros Brawl was revealed, it was a few days after the conference.

On the second point, yes, it is a terrible name.

Every 'hardcore' gamer in the chatroom was mouthing off until the very end with the third-party developers :D

It really shut them up. I mean, Assassin's Creed for WiiU? Yes please

After watching the pressbriefing from Nintendo, I can't wait to see more footage of Wii U, in action, soon.  ;D  :tup

Uhm...neato. Is that from SS? If so, the graphics aren't nearly as cartoony as I imagined. That looks more like something from Twilight Princess.

Not from Skyward Sword, though there is a new trailer for that.

This .gif is from the Wii U presentation, but they just confirmed that it's just a tech demo  :(

Yea, thought as much anyway. Wasn't too impressed by the graphics of the games they showed, sometimes they looked like wii games :/.

I dunno, I'd say none of them had anything particularly interesting.
