I just bought the new issue of Drumhead magazine with MM on the front cover, huge article and TONS of pix of him and the kit in the studio and at his home....

he said in the article that the first tour that happens in about a month (JULY) "will be touring on the old material" then once the record comes out they will tour in suport of the album. You need to read the article if you can find it... talk about a guy that loves what he does and all of the things he had to over come. This guy is a class act all the way around. i have been a huge fan of his from his days in Extreme to present time. we are all going to be suprised and pleased! His love of the DT music and know what the fan are looking for are his main goals

so the question is what top 5 songs are you most excited to hear Mike play.... what "drum part" in songs are you most eager to hear him play

1 Pull Me Under ( i know we have heard it a million times but this time i think there will be a chill that hits us when we hear it)
2 The Dance Of Eternity (i wanna hear all of the time changes)
3 6:00 (i wanna hear Mangini nail that opening phrase)
4 Trial Of Tears (it's my fav DT song so i wanna hear it because i just want to)
5 Endless Sacrifice (the drum dreak down after the guitar solo and keyboard solo is killer)

Excitiment growing again, I can't wait 28 of July when DT will come to Poland, and I can't wait September more....

That's what I'm thinking. I can't wait for the album release date and US Tour Dates. I hope they come to Ohio.

Anything from IAW/Awake/FII, pretty much. With the gong and wind chimes, it'd be great to see "Hell's Kitchen" and "Trial Of Tears" make it out, or heck, do the whole sequence of "Burning My Soul"/"Hell's Kitchen"/"Lines In The Sand"!

I agree with hearing "6:00", as it was on a lot of people's wishlists for the last couple tours, and with those octobans up high, it'd be a musical and visual treat to have MM open the shows with that fill/groove!

Also, "Take The Time", "Learning To Live", "Scarred", "Space-Dye Vest", "New Millennium", "Peruvian Skies", "Anna Lee", and of course, "The Dance Of Eternity", although it'd be neat to see the sequence of "Home"/"The Dance Of Eternity" and/or "The Dance Of Eternity"/"One Last Time"/"The Spirit Carries On", perhaps as an encore?

True, but I have to wonder what the deal is with the windchimes and gong, unless MM utilized them on the new album and decided to keep them for the tour.

I think it also largely depends on what James can still sing and sound good. If he can hit a lot of the higher notes of the first few albums, then they may want to do those songs, but you know, "Erotomania", "Hell's Kitchen" and "The Dance Of Eternity" don't require James, so I think we might get at LEAST one of those three songs, especially since they rotated the first and third on their last tour. It'd be great to get "Hell's Kitchen" instead since it's been awhile since it was played.

I'm sure TDOE, ANTR and TSCO will be staples for a while. I figure if we hear any pre JR songs, we'll get 3 or so at the most, and they'll rotate.

Call me crazy, but what if they did the entire Scenes From A Memory album at a few shows? I think it would be a great treat for some countries/venues that didn't get played at when they did the SFAM World Tour, and it would be amazing to hear MM play that album. He's already learned two songs from the album, might as well go all the way!

Stream of Consciousness. They have only ever played it on the ToT tour so I think it's definitely time to resurrect it. I'd also love to hear what Raw Dog would sound like live, I think people would appreciate it a lot more live than the recording. ACOS would be great too but I can't see that happening. I've also never been to a show where they played anything off WDADU, so that'd be great

There's nothing that jumps out at me as "I have to hear MM play this" What I DO want though...is a return of the "Evening with" format for one of the upcoming tours, probably the one supporting the new album.

My wish list has been pretty much completed. The only thing, in my 8 or so time seeing them, that I haven't seen is ACOS in it's entirety. Wishful thinking and doubtful....but hey... I can wish

the best thing about DT live for me is that i dont go into a show wanting any song in particular

i wonder if there any songs that they won't do since Portnoy is gone... i'm just stoked for them to start playing again.. i don't care what it is at this point!

Finally Free is a good choice, me thinks. Considering the drum solo at the end will help everyone fully acknowledge Mangini's prowess. Also, it's been a while since the song was played live (Medley doesn't count)
