45. Pure Reason Revolution – The Dark Third:
I was introduced to this band fairly recently, which I guess will be a pretty common trend with this list as it progresses. My music taste has been changing so much in the past 6 months or so. Anyway, the number 1 reason for this album being here on my list is the vocal harmonies. Their voices work so well together, and it really makes the album enjoyable. Obviously there are other fantastic things going on as well, but that’s what sticks out the most for me.
Best songs: Goshen’s Remains, The Bright Ambassadors of Morning, Bullitts Dominæ
44. A Perfect Circle – Thirteenth Step:
I admit it. I’m a huge Maynard fanboy. I love everything he does. He is easily one of my favorite vocalists, and he shows why on this album. If there are any Tool fans on this board that have not listened to APC, check out this album and Mer de Noms. The only reason I hold Thirteenth Step to be better is “Weak and Powerless.” It’s one of my favorite Maynard songs. I urge Tool fans to check this out.
Best songs: Weak and Powerless, The Package, The Noose, The Outsider
43. Sigur Rós – ( ):
Post rock has become an important genre for me recently. Inherent in the characteristics of the genre are very dramatic dynamic shifts, which allows the music to really impact the listener on an emotional level. Man, this album really accomplishes that for me. There are several moments where I’ve become quite teary-eyed when listening to this. Also, Jónsi’s vocals are fantastic throughout the entire record (BUT LOL THEY’RE TOO WHINY)
Best songs: Untitled 3, Untitled 4, Untitled 8
