46. Annihilator - Never, NeverlandIf you're talking about thrash metal with anyone, the big 4 will always come up. Depending on how well-versed your friend is, Exodus, Testament, and maybe Overkill will come up. But, very few people have ever heard of Annihilator. This is an absolute atrocity, as Annihilator were releasing amazing albums that kick the shit out of what most of the bands were doing at the time. This album is definitely their high point. The riffs are heavy and speedy, the vocals soar and growl, the drums pound away. This is exactly what you want in a thrash metal band. While it may seem like I haven't listed any truly unique qualities to them, then it's probably because there really aren't any. They put a slightly altered spin on a mostly repetitive formula, and it just sounds fucking killer. There's also a song about macaroni and cheese. Seriously.

45. Buckethead - ColmaBuckethead is simply a genius. Any guitar virtuoso can shred with the best of them, and while Buckethead definitely excels in that regard, one of the most amazing things about this guy is his sense of melody. In this ambient offering, Buckethead exposes his softer side, and plays some truly beautiful music. The classical guitar feel of Big Sur Moon is often cited as one of Buckethead's greatest achievements, and must be heard to be believed. The rest of the songs all have at least one bone-chillingly soothing moment, and I'd call it one of the most soothing albums I know. Everyone needs to check out this guy's music, and especially this album.
Recommended Tracks: For Mom, Hills of Eternity, Big Sur Moon
44. The Cat Empire - So Many NightsI will forever love Rich for getting me into these guys. For so long I had been waiting for a rock band that features trumpets in a dominant role, and I've finally found one. The trumpet player in this band is an absolute beast, and a pretty damn good singer as well. The lead singer (not the trumpet player) has a very "cool" voice. He just sounds very smooth in his vocal inflections. This is definitely music to dance too, even if you hate dancing. There's not really much else I can say about these guys. Just check them out.
