It's a decent song, but there are far better ones, even on the same album. Also, imo it has been a bit overplayed over the last couple of tours, so I wouldn't mind if it was given a rest.
... And you ask me: "Where's my hairspray?"

2nd best song from 8V IMO. The bass intro and the pre-solo and solo part are great. And the lyrics works well, I think.

Not a fan.  It's not an outright bad song or anything, I just find it uninteresting and never feel like listening to it.

This exactly.

I think it's a good song.  No where near DT's best but it's good fun.  :)

Its great. I especially love the part where James sings: "I feel like I'm in danger...", and the music underneath that part.

Yep.  I enjoy it when it comes on, but I don't really ever feel motivated to listen to it.
"All great works are prepared in the desert, including the redemption of the world. The precursors, the followers, the Master Himself, all obeyed or have to obey one and the same law. Prophets, apostles, preachers, martyrs, pioneers of knowledge, inspired artists in every art, ordinary men and the Man-God, all pay tribute to loneliness, to the life of silence, to the night." - A. I really like Panic attack. I like the heaviness, the fast pace, and the drive behind the song.

I don't understand why everyone says that Panic Attack is heavy.  To me, The Glass Prison is heavy.  A lot of SC is heavy.  Train of Thought is heavy.  I don't get it with Panic Attack....

I love Panic Attack. For a while after I bought 8V, it was the only song other than the title track that I'd listen too.

PA is actually the song that got me into Dream Theater. And it was through Rock Band.

But now,
I used to think it's great, now I think it's just ok.

Pretty much this.

I don't like it. The lyrics are bad ("suddenly I'm insane" always irritated me), the music is mostly stale, and those Matt Bellamy falsettos are embarrassing.
WHOA, NICE GRAPHICS!

It's a middle song on the album and in the catalogue for me. Certainly don't dislike it.

A song with such a cool bass intro can't go wrong ;D

Is it a bass intro?  I always thought that was JP's baritone guitar.

I agree actually. It's definitely fast and full of energy, but yeah, not really heavy in the typical sense. Still a great song off of a great album though.

Yeah, it's a bass.

I'd assume because it's audible.

Ever had a panic attack? The lyrics are pretty fitting. Honestly, I'd say the music and the lyrics come together to really convey the feeling of a panic attack.

Great song.  I was thrilled when I saw it played on the CiM tour.

Love Panic Attack, one of my faves off 8VM.  I'm honestly surprised that so many seem to dislike it.

I'm always surprised by this opinion. How does more people knowing this song lessen your enjoyment of it?

When too many people talk about a song too frequently, some people get sick of it.

Since Panic Attack is the most commonly played DT song among non-DT fans, some people perceive it as being talked about too frequently.

Ergo, some people get sick of it.
Sincerely,
Jaffa

Because it seems to be the only DT song most people I know recognize from them. I've also gotten sick of hearing it while playing Rock Band over and over because people wanna show off how bad-ass their shedding is. I'm happy the popularity the track gave them, I'm just sick of hearing it. It seems most people don't explore the band beyond that song the last few years. It's the modern equivalency of Pull Me Under.
