Let's leave the discussion of leaked material off the boards, please.

Giving The End of Innocence a spin right now. Good shit. Changes absolutely nothing, doesn't break any new ground, but I wasn't expecting it to. Great song.

Edit: I'd like to add for Bosky that it was uploaded to Youtube by the label. :p

I saw them in concert on May 11th and it was awesome!  I expect the new album to be no less awesome.

The title track is classic SX.
A return to the progressive sounds of tDWoT/TiO, with the more modern aggressive vocals of recent releases.

I wanna listen to it so badly... I'm gonna go to the record store tomorrow or something and ask if they'll actually get it the 17th.

New interview with Russell Allen. Notably, he mentions that The End of Innocence was written about social networking.

Seriously this is a massive return to the classic SX chunky prog metal sound that hasn't been in evidence for quite a few albums now.

The awesome sauce part is I'll probably get this  by next Friday or Saturday before the actual release date b/c CM Distro is great about shipping pre-orders.

The crappy part is that I'm getting 26 other CDs in that order, including the new Amorphis, the two new Devin Townsend project, the new Turisas...so this album better bring it if it wants heavy rotation.

I've listened to the album, and as a SymX fan, I thought it was terrible.

The songs/riffs/solos/everything sounds EXTREMELY similar to each other, and I swear there were a few times that I heard riffs from past songs. Guitar solo's were unremarkable and sounded like he was trying to get the most notes out in 30 seconds. The songs in themselves honestly just sounded very bland and boring, and I can't bring myself to want to listen to any of it again.

I have absolutely nothing against Symphony X, and I've loved all of their previous albums, including PL. But this has to be the worst in their lineup.

And now you can all hate me.

I hate you for discussing the new material

Tried to like it but had to turn it off after the first song. Ah well, not every release can be a stellar one right?

I've heard similar criticism on the SX forums. But I'm gonna wait til I actually listen to the record b4 judging.

Are you new to the band or you familiar with their early material?

I would give the album a chance rather than only listening to the first song and then saying that you dont like it... I mean SX is a prog metal band after all.

lol you have got to be kidding. Iconoclast is the best opening song they've ever done and an instant SX classic.

I understand people saying a lot of the songs are heavy and similar etc, but SX have changed as a band. They're doing what they want to do. And personally, I love it.

Stand-outs are When All Is Lost and Iconoclast. Really digging Reign In Madness and Children of a Faceless God as well.

I can't sit through the whole thing. Maybe I'm just not in the mood for it yet, or maybe I legitimately don't like it. I feel similarly about this one and V.

Last time I'll say it.  Posts have been deleted.  If people keep discussing where they got leaks, rating leaked songs, etc., the bans will start coming out.
