My local record store has it!
"All great works are prepared in the desert, including the redemption of the world. The precursors, the followers, the Master Himself, all obeyed or have to obey one and the same law. Prophets, apostles, preachers, martyrs, pioneers of knowledge, inspired artists in every art, ordinary men and the Man-God, all pay tribute to loneliness, to the life of silence, to the night." - A. Disc 2 was awesome, no complaints here. Reign in Madness was a very good closer.

I'd give the album an 8 or 9, really. Let the hating commence.

No hating here, I think it's an awesome album  :tup

Although I really don't try to compare disc 1 to disc 2 since it's obviously a losing battle for disc 2  :lol They're just the same album to me. Reign In Madness is a good song and closer, and has one of my favourite choruses on the album.

When All Is Lost
Iconoclast
Bastards Of The Machine
Children Of A Faceless God
Reign In Madness

These are the songs that stand out as favourites to me right now, although I think they are all good and by now have gotten to like all of them. When All Is Lost is the clear best song to me, I'd possibly consider it the second best Symphony X song. I'm fairly alone in liking Bastards though (at least on the internet).

But I'll let you make up your mind. When All Is Lost is a true gem of a track though, may be worth it just for that and title track.

I take back being disappointed after first listen. After about 4-5 listens, this is indeed a great album. :metal :metal :corn :corn

My only concern is that I wish 5 of the tracks didn't just fade out... I don't really mind fade-outs that much but it just sounds forced on those tracks.

One listen in, and I can say I'm digging it.  Nothing earth-shatteringly different jumps out at me, but (1) I'm perfectly okay with that, and (2) I've only listened once.

With only two listens, I'm still pretty sold on the album, it's really solid, has some great tracks, and When All is Lost might be one of the best SX tracks they've produced.

A few more songs like that on their next album and they'll have something really well-rounded for all fans of their old and new sound, I'd say.

I've listened to most of it...Pretty awesome but not as immediately memorable as I'm used to from SX...I'll just have to listen to it more.

I was expecting more prog and melodic stuff as on their first albums, but this seems like a continuation of the metal galore of Paradise Lost IMHO.

Still a pretty great album though. The End Of Innocence, Dehumanized, Iconoclast, and When All Is Lost are highlights so far.
Zydar is my new hero.  I just laughed so hard I nearly shat.

A good album, but not as good as i expected.
I'm not sure i like the more heavy approach they are taking in the last albums, although i am a crazy metalhead.
The more melodic songs i believe compliment more Russel Allen's voice, and give more space to the keys.
Of course it is a good album with some great songs, with my favorites at the moment being When All Is Lost, Electric Messiah, Reign In Madness.

Iconoclast is easily a Top 5 SX song, IMO.

Brillaint, head-banging opener.

So far, I like it a lot more than PL despite some sonic similarities.

Agreed, they basically perfected and furthered the sound they had on PL with this album while mixing in a few elements from their older albums.

Iconoclast is a fantastic album opener, too.

I haven't listened enough yet to figure out if there is less orchestration than on past albums, or if it is just so overshadowed by the aggressive guitar riffing that I haven't noticed it.

I think the heavy guitars overpower it a little bit.

But to be honest, this album is like if V: The New Mythology Suite and Paradise Lost combined into one super album, because honestly, Iconoclast is kicking my ass, and so far I think it's their best since V: TNMS

I like how some people are acting like it's such a long album. Even though it's a double album, it's only 2 minutes longer than a single CD can hold

campus circle's interview/write-up seems a little off:

"Although Romeo admits that Paradise Lost is Symphony X’s only concept album, one would be hard pressed to not think of Iconoclast as the same..."

is he putting words in romeo's mouth? maybe he simply meant to type V:TNMS and ended up with a massive typo(?)

I usually think that an album is too long if it's even close to filling up a CD.
