I predict DT 11 will be the best sounding album to date.
Given the current status of the loudness wars, I sincerely doubt it.

Just amazing.  DT should count their lucky stars that some of their fans are at this level of unconditional cult worship.

I'm going with Octavarium, it's not their best album, but the title track is enough to proove my point. It sounds perfect.

6DOIT. It's pretty heavily compressed, but done so in a way that actually benefits the music.

Awake, I love the drum sound and the Guitar tone for the most part. I'd put FII closly behind that. Both albums breathe really well.

I voted for Octavarium but now that I listen to the whole album, I hate the sound of The Root of All Evil so much. :-) The other songs sound pretty decent though. My vote was based on These Walls which I took as a representative.

I see a lot of people saying Awake but I fell JP guitar sound limited 6DOIT is light years ahead of Awake's sound.  Maybe I just like a brighter sounding album.

I think Awake has the best sound but Scenes has the best vocal production.

FII, then I&W and 6DOIT. Don't actually like the sound of the other records much. Good mixes are far from the reason I listen to DT, the bass haven't sounded decent in years. Actually I think I'm going to get pretty pissed if Myung's talent gets buried by a bad mix and too much crappy distortion once again. It's not that hard to make it sound right, with a MusicMan bass he can just play it with little or no effects, and it will sound great behind JP's guitars. Soundwise I can say with 100% certainty that I sound way better than Myung these days, although I'm a complete amateur. Still, an amateur with a good tone.

I can't stand the production on Awake and FII. I'm not the type of guy that needs to hear the instruments sound perfect, so when you take that away, the album just sounds like everything is far away and distant. An album should engulf you and immerse you into the music, with those two albums, it sounds like you're just listening to something in the distance.

edit: This is in terms of the vocals. Instrumentally the albums are great, but those vocals just seem far off and distant. It really takes away from the experience.

I can understand leaving out WDADU and SC, but ToT? I happen to really like that album's production.

Even then, really crappy to leave out any of them.
Fixed but i don't think either of those albums should even be in this discussion.

People don't like decisions being made for them.  If they really won't get any votes then putting them in will reflect that.  Pulling them out based on your opinion, even if it is widely shared, is just a lazy(to some annoying) way of running a poll.  The effort to add them for brevity's sake is insignificant.

Exactly. Plus, they HAVE received some votes, so it was therefore right to include them.

I think I agree with you hear. For some reason I have never been fully enveloped in the music from awake and 6doit, but I think far away and distant is a good way to describe why.

 I'll pick just my favorites:

Images - the sound I like still very, very much...
Awake - Drums, drums , drums, the best DT drums sound, album has overall clearness, highs, great sound, it lacks depth and bass is not that well
SFAM - I love this sound, but something is missing to perfection, might be again, it lacks the depth and bass
FII - this is totally unique sound, really great
BL&SL - some songs, some parts are really great sounding

...hard to vote...but ... perhaps FII

TOT it has the most fat sound of them all,
i think every album has one instrument which stands out from the rest
on i&W i guess its the bass
on awake its drums for sure
on FII it's....hmmm dont know
on sfam it's overall great. but it's missing brightness.
6doit is the worst for me.... drums sounds like it's recorded in a rehearsal room and than the keys sounds if they where imported or something...the mix is just totally wrong in my ears
8V don't listen to it so i cant tell
evertyhing after this sounds almost the same...no reall differences of hot spots.
