I don't think so. I'm sure Opeth wanna do their own tour. Also, IMO 3 tours in a row with Opeth is too much. I think getting Opeth was more a MP thing to do.

Agree with you, Mike seemed to have the biggest hard on for Opeth. I like them a lot but it is time for "An Evening With"
Scheming demons dressed in kingly guise, beating down the multitude and scoffing at the wise.

^Agreed. Divorce.

Why must everything DT-related have to do with "marriage" and "divorce" these days? It seems like every time Portnoy is brought up in an interview, whether it's with DT, MM, or MP himself, those two words are thrown around. It's really starting to get on my nerves.

(P.S. That isn't directed at you, Aniland, it's just a general comment.)

Been there, done that. Mike obviously won't have any input on things this time around so they can't be ruled out completely by his rule of never doing the same band in the same market twice. Still, I think JR and JP have plenty of musicians they'd love to share with the world and so I don't think we'll see DT and Opeth together in the fall.

And if they do tour together I will be quite unhappy, as it will basically be a sign of JP and JR letting the label start encroaching on the independence DT worked for many years to achieve.

...what would the label have to do with anything if both bands talk to each other and say "yeah another tour would be cool?"

Thinking about it a little more, it probably won't happen because they've done two prog nations together already, and they'll be looking for someone new (or do evening withs), but since I haven't seen Opeth live it would be cool to see them with DT in that coheadlining scenario I mentioned.

Because no one in the band except Portnoy is really known as an Opeth fan, and a tour with just the two of them would be lighting up $ signs in RR execs eyes. I think the only way they'd tour together now, after having already done tours together all over the world is with RR pushing it and the band just saying OK.

This would really only interest me if DT was opening up for Opeth.

It won't happen, but it'd be cool if that happened.

How would that be cool? That's only making a bad situation worse.

Damn. I really had my hopes up that they'd tour.

Just amazing.  DT should count their lucky stars that some of their fans are at this level of unconditional cult worship.

I think the question is:

Will Dream Theater and Opeth tour TOGETHER?

Yeah I knew what was implied. I was being sarcastic. Now having said that, I'm super pumped Opeth will not be touring with DT. I don't get what anyone sees in them.

If you're referring to growling, that's only one aspect of their music. Many of their songs feature cleanly sung vocals :P

And since this is obviously somewhat of an appreciation thread, you need to knock off the baiting.  You don't like them.  We get it.  Heck, I don't like them either.  But you can keep the snarky comments to yourself and quit derailing the thread with them.
