I'm glad to hear that they spent a year on Pre-Production.

Probably explains how they were able to track so fast.

I was slightly worried when they were totally done in a month or so. Like they rushed it.

But a year of writing and Pre-Production ?

The making of vid was good. I think Show Yourself was a cool turn. Mastodon will always be metal, but nice to have some other elements in there, especially on a concept record dealing with cancer. There are many highs and lows in regard to emotion when dealing with that obviously, so I'm sure the more hard rock vibe will fit wherever it is in the concept.

Bring on the record.

I liked this a whole lot. Straightforward but it's really fun. Absolutely love the fact that this band doesn't stick with what is easy or what their fans expect or want from them. This screams single as well; I wouldn't be surprised if this song was the outlier on the album.

Also it's really nicely produced. I keep wanting to turn it up slightly and not DOWN.

That's a good sign.

It doesn't sound as squashed as a lot of rock albums these days.

Finally - it's their 8th album in 17 years.

Pretty good going. Averages out at one every two years.

Man, I've been listening to Crack the Skye a plentiful amount since the release of the two singles, and I am stunned by the brilliance of The Last Baron. What a magnificent, ethereal song.

Yeah sounded like a Leviathan riff albeit with a less crazy guitar tone.

Reminded me of the intro to Island.

if this album has a mixture of all their styles and Brendan producing - it could be another Crack The Skye level album.

Can't frickin wait dudes !

Speaking of Leviathan - I think the clean guitar at the beginning of Megalodon is the nicest clean sound i've ever heard on an album.

They're premiering it on UK Radio at 5pm GMT and the length of the song is up on iTunes but you can't preview it yet.

It's the best single so far for me, no doubt. And that's saying something cause I liked the previous ones a lot too. Very strong Crack The Skye/Blood Mountain feel imo.

That solo is straight off Crack The Skye.

This album has a lot less layers and reverb than Crack The Skye. It's nicely punchy as hell though !

Oh my god I need this now. Everything sounds amazing so far. I know most people didn't like Show Yourself but I thought it was fun and had some catchy parts, and now I think it'll be even more of a nice outsider song.
