He sings lead vocals on Deathbound from The Hunter.
Must've been on a special edition of The Hunter. My version doesn't have it.

It's an unreleased track, but they made a pretty radular music video for it.

The "Deluxe Edition" has two bonus tracks "The Ruiner" and "Deathbound".

Love this guy's style, but I did enjoy the album cover for The Hunter. That woodwork is incredible.

The guy who's doing the cover art, Skinner, has some amazing stuff: https://www.google.com/search?q=skinner+artist&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=g1k_U5_HEurV2QW8yICoCg&ved=0CAgQ_AUoAQ&biw=1920&bih=899

I'm not really a fan of the art for The Hunter, but it looks like we're gonna get something awesome again for this one.

Yeah, I was checking out Skinner's artwork earlier today. Love his style. It turns out that he's already done some stuff for Mastodon before, but this will be his first album cover for them. I'm excited! :metal

Big Ol' Update.  :metal

Sounds great to me! I'll be looking forward to Diamond In The Witch House; the band seems to really like that song especially.

Sounds like the EP is coming out too.

I hope so. I'd love a couple more Masto-CDs for my collection.

Definitely. I already know that I'll be bringing all of my Mastodon CDs with me when I go off to college, so it'd be nice to have two more additions to the list. :metal

Yeah, I'm listening to it right now! I dig it; very Black Sabbath-y. Brann seems to be trying something new vocally with the chorus there, which I really like. It should be noted that this is probably just a radio edit; Bill wrote the song and I seem to remember him stating in a previous interview that the full song is around six minutes long.

I like the chorus and the instrumental section, but the verse and the riff are a little underwhelming. Pretty good song I guess, but nothing amazing.

I'm actually really digging the verses and riff...lol... the chorus is definitely strange but I can't tell if its just the quality of the audio or if there is like an echo or some effect on Brann's vocal.

Music is all opinion and everyone's varies for endless reasons... I can't say I expect the band to get any old fans back on board with this song but I really like it and can't wait for the new album!

Loving the whole song.

Groovy and sludgy as hell and a catchy chorus. Sound like Raskulinecz has done a good job so far.

Agreed. It really does remind me of both The Hunter with its clean vocals and hooks and Remission/Leviathan with its sludgy riffs and tone.

Is Soundcloud silent for anyone else ? Keep refreshing and getting fuck all.

Also :

" Witch Taint
This is for chicks only, right? "

Yes.Because only females like songs with choruses. MEN like songs with only cookie monster vocals and in Drop Z tuning at 300bpm.

If there's one thing I can't stand it's a well written song with melody and a *gasp* tune !

Getting a Mother Puncher vibe from the verse riffage.

The only two criticisms I have on the song are that the drumming is a bit less than what I expected from Brann (it's more restrained) and I'd have preferred it if there were a few other riffs in there. That said, it's a great main riff, I love the vocals from both Troy and Brann and I love the heavier Remission/Leviathan vibe and tone that the song has.

I can deal with slightly more restrained drums since the drumming has been getting less and less busy with every album. Maybe Brann is keeping it simpler so he can sing over it live.

That may be part of it. I've heard interviews with him in the last year where he's mentioned he's always gonna be himself (with the crazy fills etc., he loves them and I do too!) BUT he has tried to dial it back some and go for more groove, pocket stuff. I think he's just trying to give songs different styles and avoid always going gonzo

Always love his playing personally though...

----
Actually listening back over High Road again it's not that the playing is so restrained for the song as much as the drums are a little buried in the mix. It could just be they wanted it that way on this particular song with those riffs and vocals up front and prominent?

I'm loving it as I had a feeling I would. They always seem to come out of left field with something (the different chorus vocals here) that keep the sound fresh but still sound like them.  :metal

The verses totally have a Leviathan vibe - which is FINE BY ME.

Add in a bit of newer Mastodon and we could be in for a classic MastoCD.

*** High Road is now available to buy on iTunes ***

I've purchased it :)

Riff is classic.  Chorus is different, but I think will grow.

New interview with Bill: https://loudwire.com/mastodon-bill-kelliher-once-more-round-the-sun/

Looks like the next single will be "Chimes at Midnight."

Not that "High Road" was bad, but I was pretty disappointed with it since it sounds like a Hunter B-side for the most part and the chorus is kinda weak. Hopefully this one'll be better.
