I made the intensity argument because they were going for the aggressive angle on this album. For me, it just felt like they fell flat in that area. Overall, I find myself liking them best when they can present something heavy in an intense and interesting way. If they can work in some melody that fits the song, even better. I also like it a lot when they have mostly melodic songs I can lose myself in.
Examples of the heavy and interesting style I mentioned would be:
March of the Fire Ants, Megalodon, Blood and Thunder, and Crusher Destroyer.
Examples of the melodic would be:
Elephant Man, Trilobite, Ol' Nessie, Trainwreck, Hearts Alive, and Sleeping Giant.
