There's a rumor that Mastodon and Opeth are going to kick off a tour in April.

Cole: "Ow I just got hit in the balls"
Me: "How?"
Cole: "Well you know when you try to scratch your balls, and you scratch too hard?
I'll admit sometimes I want to listen to Dragonforce.

There are pics of them on their facebook in the studio titled "January 2012". Wonder what that's all about?
They're doing a split with Feist for Recordstore day, and they're covering Feist and Feist cover them.

Seriously?  That's awesome!  Reason number 109293848 I love Record Store day.  Can't wait to hear Feist singing about white whales and holy grails.  :metal

And again, a thousand  :metal 's for the rumored Opeth tour.

Last night during All The Heavy Lifting, the lights turned on the audience and blinked very rapidly whenever "Just close your eyes" was sung. The rapid blinking made us close our eyes because it hurt to watch. Pretty cool.

I went to all of my local record stores this morning an hour after they opened and ALL of Mastodon was already gone.  I'm really pissed right now.

I just bought it off amazon for 3 times the cost of what it would of been at the record store  :\
I listened to 30 seconds of each yesterday, metal sucks also had them, but I really really really really wanted this lol
oh well, honestly it's worth the $20.  I'm just venting out on how dumb Record Store day is ;)
They didn't have my Rebecca Black either  :sadpanda:  (If this would have existed, I would have gotten it soooooo hard)

Due to my brokeness I decided to pass on that one.  I'm interested in hearing it though.  The Flaming Lips version is already pretty awesome.

Just got back from the Mastopeth show.  Man the setlist was not as good.  Its not that the they picked were bad, but there was waaaay too much Hunter stuff all in a row.  I mean, Thickening, Dry Bone Valley, Octopus, Blasteroids, Stargasm, and The Hunter all at once was just too monotonous, if that makes sense.  If they had removed a song or just put in some other stuff in between it might have been a bit more interesting.  That didn't stop those last three songs from being awesome live (also, as soon as the Hunter started, the whole place started to smell like weed  :lol).

Highlights included Blasteroids, Stargasm (Troy vocal FTW), Spectrelight, Hand of Stone, Crystal Skull, Aqua Dementia, and Blood and Thunder.

There was also some dick in front of me who gave them the finger and a thumb down and kept booing them during "Curl of the Burl."  He'd also shout "WHITE WHALE HOLY GRAIL" between songs.  I mean, if a band plays a song you don't like, just shut up and let everyone else have their fun and don't disrespect the band.  I hate Made Out of Nothing, but I didn't boo Coheed when they played it.  Still a fun time overall.

LOL, I don't understand some fans. I hate when I have some moron doing this. How often do larger touring bands play songs requested from some idiot in the crowd?

And the booing and giving the band the finger? Maybe the guy had an addiction to wood and was offended? It's not my favorite song by the band but come on. I know it wouldn't have been enjoyable to you but If I was the band and I saw this guy doing this just because they played  this particular song I would be inclined to play it till he left or learned to love it.

"This is a song off our latest album... we call it, Curl of the Burl!"... about 5 mins later "The second song from our album The Hunter is a beast called "Curl... Of.... The.... Burl!"  5 mins pass "Yeah, Curl of the Burl... wrote a song about it. Wanna hear it? Here it go!"  :lol

Or maybe just go with a 25 min improvised Curl of the Burl jam.... lmao.

Anyway, glad you enjoyed it overall! I really wish I could have gone (another show I've missed recently that I wanted to see; the other Fair to Midland).

I think I might have just been spoiled by the last setlist, which had most of the album on it (except Island, Naked Burn, and Hearts Alive, IIRC :P).  I think it could have used a different Crack the Skye song.  Divinations would be so much fun live!

The Crack The Skye tour was awesome, just for the very reason that I got to see Crack The Skye in it's complete form.

Crack the Syke tour was godly. Though I must say, their first leg of The Hunter tour when they headlined without Opeth was the best show of their for me. The amount of Blood Mountain material they played made me feel like a homeless man locked in a grocery store after hours.

Almost, but we treat our store like a fuckin' Vegas casino in terms of security. We even call out each section as clear as we do a sweep through the store after we close.

"Section A is clear"
"Section B is clear"

To make it less lame, I give each section code names when I clear.

"Arcutus is clear"
"Behemoth is clear"

I hate my job.

I'm wondering if Mastodon will grow on me, I like them partially, but I feel like I just don't get them. I like certain aspects of their sound, though.
