Ruin? I doubt it, it doesn't look very good despite him.

It looks pretty entertaining IMO. But yeah, I don't see why he would ruin it, he's an excellent actor.

Ariich is a freak, or somehow has more hours in the day than everyone else.

Yeah, if it's ruined, it won't be his fault. :lol

That's my thought as well. If anything, it would be the producer's/director's fault to "modernise" a classic by dumbing it down to humour based on slapstick and over-the-top sillyness (if that's intended, I haven't read the novel or seen an original film if there is one).
... And you ask me: "Where's my hairspray?"

Mentlegen.

Well, it looks awful, regardless of whether or not HE ruined it.
Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

Can't stand the guy, always way over the top. (except in The Truman Show, which he wasn't able to ruin)

I have not, no. I might have been exposed to his bad films initially, and then stopped watching him altogether.
What I've seen is The Mask, Ace Ventura, Bruce Almighty, and The Truman Show. Only the last was good, and not really because of him, but rather despite of him.

Oh, well both feature Carrey in a much more serious less over the top role. Even less over the top actually than Truman.

This movie is going to suck despite anyone who's in it.

Eternal Sunshine is a POS. Terrible plot and everything. Can't stand it.

Ace Ventura is good because he is the actor for that kind of movies. Yet again, I was a kid when watching these movies (AV's) so that makes me biased in a certain way.

I find his campaign to undermine public health alot more disconcerting than him ruining films by being over the top...I refuse to watch anything with him in it, as I don't want anything I do to cause him to have even one extra cent of royalty money to put towards his moronic anti-vaccine crusade.

... I... just...
I got nothing.
I imagined the story to go more like this.

I was sitting a traffic light blaring Space Dye Vest and next to me in another car was Kevin Moore. And I'll never be open again.

This post hurts my brain.

Rumby, Carrey is a great actor, but in his early days he tended to get put in the same sorts of roles because it was seen as his "thing". He was excellent in the Truman Show, but still in his "usual style". Definitely watch Eternal Sunshine and Man on the Moon, the first is incredible and the second is flawed but very moving, and his performances in both are amazing.

Although you fail for not liking The Mask. :P
