There's nothing particularly pretentious about it. Some people like to describe it that way because it's intelligent and thoroughly researched but I don't think it's an appropriate description. If anything I'd say Scarsick is their pretentious album as it takes a certain viewpoint about modern society and all that. Whereas with Be, there are some themes that run through it but it's not like it's DG saying "this is my opinion, you better all agree".
