Yeah, I have no idea what the cakeless person in that analogy is meant to be eating. If he's got some sort of cake substitute, it should really have been worked into the narrative at some point. As it stands, the options are:

  • Hoard a cake just to stare blankly into its doughy edifice.
  • Make futile chewing motions with your mouth while starving to death.

I'm confused about "The Closet."   At first I thought it was where you were allowed to pick one out of the closet, along with your other three albums (which is why I picked ACOS).  But now it looks like The Closet counts as one of your album choices.  Which is it, Reap?

The latter. "The Closet" counts as an album for the purposes of this thread.

Ugh, I had to get rid of ACOS for TGP.  It's just not the same.  >:(

Trial Of Tears
Hollow Years

Set 2 (1hr 17min 51sec)

You know, to me it's like the 92-93 version of the song is good in the way it shows the potential which is fully exploited with the introduction of the instrumental parts in 96 and even further with JR's contribution in the 2002 version.

It is true, JLB's singinig in this song back in 92 (and on a lesser level 93) is out of this world, but I honestly prefer five minute of instrumental bliss over 50 seconds of vocal insanity  :)

Awake and FII but no ACOS? I would feel cheated...
I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

Really ACOS Should belong to I&W album and it is because of it for what I included it in the previous tour .
Awake and FII is 1994/1997 and ACOS  was composed in 1990 .

I for myself think that ACOS-95 bears a much deeper resemblance to the general feel of Awake than of FII... Does anybody feel the same way?

I for myself think that ACOS bears a much deeper resemblance to the general feel of I&W. than others.
Awake is darker than ACOS  and FII is more ...song-orientated and..."commercial" ?¿? (It´s only an appraisal)
I included ACOS with his mate/songs of I&W and with WDADU and Majesty demo because the dates. I want to include only songs from 86 to 92

Really I have not born in mind the fact of having being re-recorded in 1995. There is alone my option, nothing more.

Mine’s very simple, but for my first DT concert, if they did this, I’d love it.

Images and Words
Scenes from a Memory
The Closet

Set 1: (84:32)
Metropolis – Part 1
Overture 1928
Strange Déjà vu
Through My Words
Fatal Tragedy
Beyond This Life
Through Her Eyes
Home
The Dance of Eternity
One Last Time
The Spirit Carries On
Finally Free

Intermission (20:00)

Set 2: (47:25)
Pull Me Under
Another Day
Take The Time
Surrounded
Under a Glass Moon
Wait For Sleep
Learning to Live

Encore: (23:07)
A Change of Seasons

Like I said, very very simple.  Set 1 is the Metropolis saga sans Regression, set 2 is I&W sans Metropolis part 1, encore is ACOS.  People who have been to many DT concerts might be bored to tears by it, but for my first, I’d love it.  :)

Well, maybe to me it could be boring in the fact that it would be a quite predictable setlist once the first two songs of each album are played.  But surely, neither can I or anyone else complain for the quality of the music.
