I'm quite impressed Agalloch made it to the top two.  Since its the only Agalloch album I've heard/own, and its really good, I think I'll vote for it.

Agalloch's is the better album, but I'm a Tool fanboy and I love 10,000 Days to death, so I vote that.

Sorry, I mistook "Ashes is the better album" to mean you like it more.

Since I haven't really heard any of them :facepalm: I won't vote.

Just vote for Agalloch you won't regret it.

Objectivity =/= subjectivity.

I enjoyed 10,000 Days more than Ashes, even though I accept that Ashes is better, which is why 10,000 Days is the album of the year out of those two, for me.

Nah, it's not you, loads of people don't actually agree that objectivity =/= subjectivity, so fair enough to call me out. I've had massive debates about how it MUST be true because Transformers 2 is awful, but I love it so damn much.  :lol

But Ashes Against the Grain is possibly my favorite album ever.

I think it's kinda logical.
After all there's a difference in the words 'best' and 'favorite', a personal example for me would be that I think BWP is probably Opeth's best album (objectively speaking), but I prefer 4-5 of their other albums over it when it comes to my favorites.

Yeah, like I admit SFAM is one of DT's best, but I just can't get into it, so it's nowhere near my favorite.

I don't get this line of thinking at all, or the difference in subjectively thinking something's "the best" and saying its different from saying, from a subjective POV, "Its my favorite/not my favorite."  If you think something's the best, its probably because its your favorite, right?  I just don't get it.

I don't know. It's like, I can see why people think it's one of their best. And I can see the elements there and would think I should like it, too. But I don't.

Okay, I can understand that.  Its an approach I try to make when confronted with something I don't really like.  Its how you can answer the question "How can Lady Gaga be so famous and my favorite progressive metal band can barely get food on the table?"  By looking at why someone likes something that you don't.

BUT that doesn't mean you have to say that its the best as well.  That's just silly.  :P
