:bump:

When will we have the results ?
Jesus Christ himself* comes down amidst a choir of 2 billion angels singing Handel's Hallelujah chorus. As KrotchRaut shred randomly on guitars made of dragon bones using picks made from God's kidney stones, Jesus heals a blind woman who promptly gives birth onstage to a creation of pure light.

*Yes, Jesus Christ himself. Nothing less will do.

Alright, I've finished! (finally)
Let me just say that this was an exceptionally brilliant round for all of you. Overall, this has to be the best round.

First place: ClairvoyantCat: Le Quartier by Yann Tiersen
I had no idea Yann Tiersen made more music. I just have his soundtrack to Amélie Poulain, and I love, love, love it. I’m so excited to listen to more of his stuff now and the song you’ve sent was a great start. I just don’t think this song feels very Paris-esque as you so delicately put it, it feels more like the flee market in a middle eastern city or something. Anyway, I thank you for letting me know Yann Tiersen made more music. And also props for being different. 14 Points

Second place:
dethklok09: Soviets by The Boxer Rebellion
Wow, I really loved this track. It’s the second time you’ve sent me something by this band and I like them way more after hearing this song. It just, hit me, I don’t know. I love the “I’m sorry”s in the chorus. Really good. 13 Points

Marvellous G: Lies by Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova
This song is so beautiful. Without a doubt the most beautiful song I’ve gotten so far. Amazing. I love the harmony between their voice. I love everything about it. Funny anekdote: I always get the full album of a submission (if possible) and I accidentally dragged the wrong song into the playlist, and to be honest that one was even better in my opinion. I just love them. So beautiful. 13 Points

TheVoxyn: Flightless Bird, American Mouth by Iron & Wine
This song is just lovely. So calm and soothing, it makes me smile. Can’t say much more really, I just love it, plain and simple! 13 Points

Fifth place:
Gorille85: Summersong by The Decemberists
This song is great! There’s so much going on, I love it! I’d heard some good things here and there about this band but I never bothered to check them out.. Which I now regret not doing, they’re amazing! I can’t really determine the mood of this song though.. It sounds so happy but it doesn’t feel that way. 12 Points

Jamesman: Blood & Wine by Dustin Kensrue
To be honest, this is more what I would’ve expected in the “short songs” round, but it works perfectly here as well. I love the voice, and I love the pace of the song. What more can I say? Great pick! 12 Points

Nic35: Hora Zero by Rodrigo y Gabriela
Wow, this song really was something else. I don’t listen at all to this kind of music but I enjoyed it a lot! Both of them obviously have great skill but they manage to keep my interest into the song itself and not just on their abilities (which is a problem for me in most prog music for example). Anyway, great pick! 12 Points

Eighth place:
Quadrochosis & zxlkho: Handcuffs & The Boy Who Blocked His Own Shot by Brand New
These songs are pretty good! But I would rate them higher if they had another vocalist... His voice kind of bores me. But aside from that, I love everything about them. The lyrics are pretty interesting. You can definitely hear the emo influences though, but they aren’t that blatant so I have no problem with them. Overall great picks... It's so weird that songs like this have to end up "last" technically. 11 Points

Scoreboard:
TheVoxyn - 8 + 13 + 12 + 1  + 12 + 13 = 59
Marvellous G - 11 + 8 + 10 + 12 + 13 = 54
Quadrochosis - 8 + 11 + 13 + 2 + 9 + 11 = 54
ClairvoyantCat - 6 + 11 + 11 + 10 + 14 = 52
Jamesman - 10 + 10 + 11 + 2 + 6 + 12 = 51
zxlkho - 12 + 7 + 8 + 2 + 11 + 11 = 51
Gorille - 7 + 13 + 7 + 9 + 12 = 48
dethklok09 - 4 + 9 + 11 + 10 + 13 = 47
Nic35 - 6 + 9 + 10 + 1 + 8 + 12 = 44

Sonatafanica ends with 46 points.

Alright, so since there are a lot of people waiting to start their roulette, and mine has been going on for over two months, I will make this the last round. Naturally, it will be an open round, no restrictions whatsoever, so give me your best shot.
Also, if everyone's fine with it, I'll double the scores this round. So everyone still ha a fair chance at winning.
Good luck!

Ok guys I'm giving all the rest of you until Wednesday for me. That means at the time of this post you've still got 27 hours and 15 minutes. I'm not going to PM those who have not yet sent in a submission because I think you are big enough to plan this yourselves and, well, if you haven't checked this thread in almost three weeks, you don't care that much.

Meaning: on Wednesday I will score all the songs sent so far. Only those will get points.

Good luck!

Re: Song roulette version kári's: ENDING SCORES
« Reply #162 on: August 04, 2011, 12:56:10 PM »
Let me start off by saying that those who didn't make the cut I put up: I'm sorry guys. Like I said above, it's nothing personal, I just wanted to get it over with for several reasons including I really need to study now and also that there are people waiting to start their roulette. Feel free to send me a song though, I just won't append the score. (or maybe I might in a few weeks, who knows :D )

OK, so here are the final round's scores:
First place:
Marvellous G:  You Really Got A Hold On Me by She & Him
This song was so lovely! Both their voices are stunningly beautiful and the entire song has just an amazing atmosphere. I love how there’s barely any instrumentation, just because theur voices are so amazing. It’s the opposite of what I mostly listen to! Really, really great! 14 points

ClairvoyantCat: Winter by Tori Amos
Of course I'd already heard a lot about Tori Amos, including listening to I think her cover of Nirvana on youtube. I remembering thinking something like "k, she plays great piano" but that was about it. But holy shit, this song is amazing. I almost teared up and I probably would've if I didn't have to do some stuff after typing this. I will definitely get more of her now, furst and foremost the album where this track came off. You sent me a grooveshark link but for some reason it didn't work so I listened to the first video I could find on youtube (which was live). And then again three times. Like I said, amazing, amazing stuff. Again my apologies for over-looking your submission. 14 points

Third place:
zxlkho: Souvenirs d'un autre Monde by Alcest
OK at first I was like meh I don’t really like this, but then at the one minute mark this deep noisy guitar sounds joined the song and I loved it. It has a bit of a shoegaze feel, but more metal-inspired. I really like it though. It’s very interesting, I will definitely look more into this. 12 points

Fourth place:
TheVoxyn: Functions by Tiger Lou
I love the sudden start of the song. Just like BAM and it’s started. It packs a great deal of “marching rythm” because the drum pattern barely changes throughout the song. I think it would be a very great song to run or walk too, just because of that. I’ll probably try that tomorrow! The voice is also great! Again, amazing pick! 11 points

Quadrochosis: Frozen Love by Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks
You can definitely tell that this is a ‘70s song, which gave a nice vibe to it. There’s not that much I can say about this song, other than it’s a very solid song. There’s nothing about it I don’t like, but in the same way there’s nothing about it that really, really makes it shine. Still, great pick man! 11 points

dethklok09: Keep Calling by il abanico
Never heard of these guys, and it looks the same for pretty much anyone else. No idea how you’e stumbled upon them (just like that Russian song you sent in an earlier round). But I have to say, it was really good! I looked them up and apparently this song was on their first EP earlier this year, which is amazing. I think that they have a lot of potential! I listened to some other stuff and they make some lovely tunes! 11 points

Seventh place
Gorille85: Tutto L’Amore Che Ho by Jovanotti
OK. I didn’t really like this song. However, it packs a good beat which kicks in amazingly at 1:18 or so. That was definitely the highlight of the song, I love that. This makes me hope that there will be an amazing dance remix of this song. I can so hear it. However, I don’t really like it for the rest. It’s not bad at all, it just doesn’t really do anything. 7 points

FINAL RESULTS!
Marvellous G - 11 + 8 + 10 + 12 + 13 +2*14 = 82
TheVoxyn - 8 + 13 + 12 + 1  + 12 + 13 + 2*11= 81
ClairvoyantCat - 6 + 11 + 11 + 10 + 14 + 2*14 = 80
Quadrochosis - 8 + 11 + 13 + 2 + 9 + 11 + 2*11= 76
zxlkho - 12 + 7 + 8 + 2 + 11 + 11 + 2*12 = 75
dethklok09 - 4 + 9 + 11 + 10 + 13 + 2*11 = 69
Gorille - 7 + 13 + 7 + 9 + 12 + 2*7 = 62
Jamesman - 10 + 10 + 11 + 2 + 6 + 12 = 51
sonatafanica - 9 + 12 + 8 + 4 + 13 = 46
Nic35 - 6 + 9 + 10 + 1 + 8 + 12 = 44

Holy shit!! That's some really close stuff there! :D
I want to thank you all for participating, all of you have exposed me to really great and foremost really different music, which I will really look into. I'll probably update this thread a couple of times with how your submissions have grown on me.
I know it kind of ended a little shitty with some of you not able to get their submission in in time, but to me it really doesn't mean anything, it was just taking a bit too long. I hope you feel the same way.

I can only conclude this with: congratulations and massive, massive amounts of thanks to all of you. I love you guys :hearts:

Yeah I'm sorry, I wish I could've given you a higher score because it was the final round, but I wanted to keep all the scores on the same scale throughout the rounds. Sorry man! :)

And I'm glad to hear that! Of course it was a lot of fun for me as well, but unfortunately it just got a bit of a drag because the submissions were coming in so slow the last two rounds.

I'm so glad I've finally not come basically last in one of these!  :lol Glad you liked thar She & Him song, it's probably my favourite cover ever and if it was an original it'd be one of my favourite songs ever, as you say their voices are so beautiful together that it hardly even needs instrumentation.

I'd definitely be up fir a final round, although judging by the two I'm up against that's basically roulette suicide.  :rollin

(also I cannot ever thank you enough for sending me Re:Stacks in my roulette, that's probably the best song I've ever been recommended on the Internet)
