Yeah, I got slammed with work the past few days. Moving furniture all day can really take it out of you...

Starting the write-ups now, expect them in a few hours. :tup

Sounds cool.  :tup
Really hope to score some points, so that I won't loose more on my "arch enemy", Space Invader.  :lol

Well, not 'arch enemies' like that, but he is 4 points ahead of me in the contest overall, so I consider him my biggest rival as for now. :P

I'm not feeling too confident in this round, but we shall see. It's been a close game so far.

Well, it's tough. Had to take a phone call that lasted over an hour, so I am still doing the final listens and write-ups. People sent great lyrics, but I don't fully know the ranking til I sit there and look at my write-ups...

AND WE HAVE RESULTS

Top Pick: contest_sanity
Band: Brave Saint Saturn
Song Name: Daylight

Wow! This song was really, really awesome. Lyrics painted a really great story while being totally relate-able. And the delivery and music....especially the end where he gets it super emotional. That whole bit after the samples was so well done! Love the whole space-rock feel of the song, this was an immediate "winner!" reaction from me...

Second Place: Quadrochosis
Band/Artist: Phil Wickham
Song Name: True Love

Good thinking getting a Christian song. :lol Lyrics are very well-written. Delivery is spot-on for the genre. I've heard of Wickham, and probably have heard something on the Christian radio station I listen to...but this is my first exposure. This is so much better than other music in Christian music circles.

Next Three:(+6 pts.)

-Ytsebitsyspider
Band: Dreamscape
Song Name: You Don't Know Me

Yes, prog rock done very well. Could barely tell his accent was there. Lyrics were great and encouraging, and prog rock done like this is perfect for lyrics like this, IMO. Reminds me of a more optimistic Redemption, maybe that's just me though.

-ariich
Band/Artist: Joanna Newsom
Song: Does Not Suffice

The first few times I listened and read along, I was really bored with this...but then the final listen through smacked me in the face...I loved reading along with it and hearing the story. The end is weird and unexpected after hearing her sing all of that stuff, by the way! :lol Is that what attracts you to her music, the way she writes the lyrics (such great choices for words, even the subtle or little choices had me going "nice!") and tells the story?

Also, you didn't send me lyrics, so you lose all your points forever and you're banned as well.

-Marvellous G
Band: Pearl Jam
Song Name: Black

Gonna be honest, when I saw you sent Pearl Jam, I was gonna ask you to send another song because...I really don't like them (from the radio stuff I've heard). But considering the round theme and just trying to be openminded, I went into this. Good job man! You sent me a PJ song where I liked his voice, and the subject matter, actual lyrics and delivery (vocally and music) worked wonderfully together! Paints a good picture of a breakup.

Next 3 (+5 pts.)

-Zantera
Band: Radiohead
Song Name: Pyramid Song

I only know a few songs by Radiohead, and love those songs. This wasn't up to the caliber of the songs I have heard...but something tells me that Radiohead is a band I would have to let grow on me...there's probably something I am missing but will get eventually. The music and lyrics worked very well together...really out there stuff but it worked fine. Good pick!

-Ravenheart
Band: Depeche Mode
Song Name: Waiting for the Night

A band I've heard of before...unlike what I thought they would be (actually, not sure what I did think they would be like!). I could definitely see myself driving on a quiet, cool night, listening to this song. That said, only ranking it down a bit because the lyrics weren't as good (IMO of course) as other songs in this round. A VERY good relation between the lyrics and music, though!

-kari
Band: Frightened Rabbit
Song Name: Poke

This was good stuff...a bit different, and flowed very nicely...the lyrics were a bit too...I don't know...poetic for me to appreciate in how they were delivered. They are really good lyrics. (About love and moving on, right?). Just unsure about the delivery, so yeah. Overall liked it, though! And the end was very nice, I could hear something like distorted guitar coming in but never fully developing, which was a nice touch.

Last:(+4 pts.)

Space Invader
Band: A Perfect Circle
Song Name: 3 Libras

Don't get me wrong. Loved the song, good lyrics...but compared to the other songs sent, this was a bit more run of the mill. Don't be disappointed too much, it reminded me that I need to check out APC (I've only heard "Blue" and I love it).

----------------------------------------------

Standings:

Space Invader - 7+5+8+6(+1)+8+4=39

contest_sanity - 6+4+4+5=19(+4)+7+8=38

Zantera - 6+6+5+8+6+5=36

Kari - 5+8+7+6+4+5=35

Quadrochosis - 8+4+4+5=21(+2)+5+7=35

Ariich - 5+6+5+7+5+6=34

Ravenheart - 6+5+5+6(+1)+6+5=34

Marvellous G - 4+7+6+5(+1)+5+6=34

YtseBitsySpider - 5+5+6+4=16(+6)+6+6=34

ROUND SEVEN: THREE MINUTES OR LESS

Can be anything really! Not a second longer than 3 minutes, I'll be strict about that actually. ;)

Protip: Make it pack a punch or go somewhere enough (like with a purpose and resolution). Lyrics will probably help more than an instrumental, but who knows? Pop music may work well here. Honestly, something with driving energy would work here well I think..but looking at Foobar, acoustic does it for me as well. But whatever, it's open, so go with what you think i will like best. We are seven rounds in, so you should have something of an idea of what I would like best from what you can choose from. Good luck and godspeed you black emperors!

Yeah, despite what it seems like - I'm actually NOT drunk.  :lol
I recently switched from Firefox to Chrome, so because of that I accidentally sent the first PM.
Because of having 30 tabs up at once, I obviously forgot the link to the song.

So yeah, I'm probably just tired. ;)

Yeah I agree.
Firefox was annoying, because it had 5 year old bugs that wasn't fixed, and it was always running in the background when I closed it.
And let's not forget how much CPU it used.

So yeah, Chrome is great.  :hat

I've been waiting to send you that song since before the roulette even started.  I knew you'd like it.  But seriously, all three of the Brave Saint Saturn albums are absolutely brilliant.  You HAVE to check them out!

Oh yeah, didn't realise that was a question.

Yeah I love her lyrics. I love the music as well, her brand of contemporary folk is gorgeous, but something that really stands out is the elegant but generally simple poetry in her words. That song especially is straightforward enough, but has enough lovely little touches, and an overall feel and story, to elevate it up another notch.

Just need ravenheart and Space Invada

Starting the first listens now, this round is the opposite of the last round, will go by much faster because of the song lengths.

ALSO:

Let's do round 8...the top two players will go onto the final round (still not sure how I will do that yet).

BUT WAIT

Round 8 is open, but none of the bands used before can be used again. Only stipulation, in the vein of some of the other roulettes that came before.

If I get SI and RH's submissions in today, I could have results up tomorrow...I have all day free today and I think tomorrow, just working on my portfolio and maybe some tutoring.
