BOOM
Round 3 results:
5 Dtismajesty: Russian Circles – "Enter":
This was indeed post-metal brilliance. It was fucking epic. I've never actually listened to ANYTHING from the post-metal genre before, even though I love a lot of post-rock. Obviously inherent in the "post" genres are the huge dynamic shifts, which there are definitely a few of in this song. I absolutely loved it.

4 LieLowTheWantedMan: Sleepytime Gorilla Museum – "The Donkey Headed Adversary of Humanity Opens The Discussion":
This was my first listen to this band that I've heard so much about. It nearly overwhelmed me the first listen, but the second time I fucking loved it. There's a lot of cool stuff going on. I'll definitely check them out further. Didn't they pull an Oceansize or something recently?

4 Gorille85: SikTH – "Bland Street Bloom":
I've heard that this band is a huge influence on Protest the Hero. It's pretty obvious actually, mostly because its just all over the place throughout the entire song. I loved it because of that. I feel like this is an example of when very heavy breakdowns are extremely effective in metal. Most of the time they're shit though :P

3 Ravenheart: Dan Swanö – "Add Reality":
Initially I thought I was going to turned off by the synths, but they took a back seat to the awesome guitar riffs and melodies for most of the song after the intro. I really really liked this guy's vocals. It was hard finding information about this guy online because he mostly does work with other artists, so I'll ask you: does he have any other albums besides Moontower? (I was soooo close to giving this a 4)

3 Sonatafanica: Björk – "Army of Me":
I've neglected checking out Björk for the longest time, and I should not have done that because I really enjoyed this. You were right about the bass, too. :metal Anyway, great song. Which album should I get first? Also, your link you sent was messed up. It only played the first minute or so of the song, but I found it on youtube, so it's cool.

3 Quadrochosis: Strapping Young Lad – "All Hail the New Flesh":
This was really good. I've never been big on Devin Townsend stuff (mostly because of the production style...) and this certainly didn't change that, but it was definitely an awesome metal song. :metal

2 antigoon: Emanuel & The Fear - "Jimme's Song":
This is the opposite of heavy, but as I said I don't really care. This was a really fun song to listen to, but I can't say much more than that. It just didn't grab me like the song you sent last round.

2 Lateralus88: Arch Enemy – "Bury Me an Angel":
I was a bit skeptical when you first sent this song, since the only real Melodeath band I enjoy is In Flames (I fucking love them to death, btw). With that said, the riffs in this song are fucking AWESOME. It only gets knocked down (it probably would have been a 4 tbh) because those might be the worst vocals from a death metal band I've EVER heard.

1 AcidRainLTE: Textures – "Laments of an Icarus":
So when I first turned this song on, I thought it was something out of my roommate's stereo, and I almost wanted to turn it off. Thankfully it got better later on, and it ended up okay overall, but I can't see myself getting too into this...

Overall, I think this round was a bit weaker than the previous ones.

Quadrochosis 11
Gorille85 11
dtismajesty 10
antigoon 10
ravenheart 10
Lateralus88 9
sonatafanica 8
LieLowTheWantedMan 7
AcidRainLTE 6 (Harry, you're killing me...)

Round 4: Send something electronic. If you don't have anything, that's cool, just send whatever.

LieLowTheWantedMan

woot. Glad you liked it. And yeah, they just finished their last tour and are in the process of making their final album. Electronic, hmm I don't have much, but I have some...

zxlkho

Make sure I don't also already listen to it. :P

Glad you liked it :tup

And yeah, he's done a shitload of his own stuff, but only one album under his own name. His primary projects are Edge of Sanity (defunct) and Nightingale. He's also done a lot of other side projects, like Unicorn, Odyssey, and Subway Mirror.

Electronic for the next round? Hmm, I think I might have something good  :millahhhh

AcidLameLTE

Fuck you, I'm not sending you anything.

zxlkho

Good. I'll put your "song of nothing" in last place again.

Which album should I get first?

I started with Debut, but Homogenic seems to be what most people start with so that I guess

Ravenheart

Vespertine is my personal favorite Bjork album.

sonatafanica

Yeah Vespertine is astounding, but I don't think it's necessarily the ideal place to start

ClairvoyantCat

I'm glad you liked the song :metal :metal :metal

You're dead on about the "dynamic shifts," they're probably the trademark of the band, if anything is.

Yeah, Homogenic is probably the best intro for new fans. That's what I used.

skydivingninja

By putting Russian Circles at the top (though my personal favorite is "Station") you've almost redeemed yourself for the pitiful Peter Gabriel, Disasterpeace, and SYL rankings.

Actually, I just bought Enter and I'm on my second listen of it now.  Just as good as Station and Geneva.  :metal :metal

zxlkho

Okay guys, blame Zack (and Joe, still...) for me not having results up right now. He made me listen to his shit Daedalus Radio instead of roulette songs. What a dick.

Jamesman42

\o\ lol /o/

ricky

these roulette threads help me find good music.

it's been a mistake ignoring the general music discussion all this time.

just assume i'm in the next roulette.

and yeah, i'll win it. it's not like i even have to say it.

Quadrochosis

You have to be asked. You can't just assume you're in them.

Dr. DTVT

You won't win it if I'm in it.  I win these bitches.
