Round 3 results:
5 Dtismajesty: Russian Circles – “Enter”: This was indeed post-metal brilliance. It was fucking epic. I’ve never actually listened to ANYTHING from the post-metal genre before, even though I love a lot of post-rock. Obviously inherent in the “post” genres are the huge dynamic shifts, which there are definitely a few of in this song. I absolutely loved it.
4 LieLowTheWantedMan: Sleepytime Gorilla Museum – “The Donkey Headed Adversary of Humanity Opens The Discussion”: This was my first listen to this band that I’ve heard so much about. It nearly overwhelmed me the first listen, but the second time I fucking loved it. There’s a lot of cool stuff going on. I’ll definitely check them out further. Didn’t they pull an Oceansize or something recently?
4 Gorille85: SikTH – “Bland Street Bloom”: I’ve heard that this band is a huge influence on Protest the Hero. It’s pretty obvious actually, mostly because its just all over the place throughout the entire song. I loved it because of that. I feel like this is an example of when very heavy breakdowns are extremely effective in metal. Most of the time they’re shit though
3 Ravenheart: Dan Swanö – “Add Reality”: Initially I thought I was going to turned off by the synths, but they took a back seat to the awesome guitar riffs and melodies for most of the song after the intro. I really really liked this guy’s vocals. It was hard finding information about this guy online because he mostly does work with other artists, so I’ll ask you: does he have any other albums besides Moontower? (I was soooo close to giving this a 4)
3 Sonatafanica: Björk – “Army of Me”: I’ve neglected checking out Björk for the longest time, and I should not have done that because I really enjoyed this. You were right about the bass, too.

Anyway, great song. Which album should I get first? Also, your link you sent was messed up. It only played the first minute or so of the song, but I found it on youtube, so it’s cool.
3 Quadrochosis: Strapping Young Lad – “All Hail the New Flesh”: This was really good. I’ve never been big on Devin Townsend stuff (mostly because of the production style…) and this certainly didn’t change that, but it was definitely an awesome metal song.
2 antigoon: Emanuel & The Fear - "Jimme's Song": This is the opposite of heavy, but as I said I don’t really care. This was a really fun song to listen to, but I can’t say much more than that. It just didn’t grab me like the song you sent last round.
2 Lateralus88: Arch Enemy – “Bury Me an Angel”: I was a bit skeptical when you first sent this song, since the only real Melodeath band I enjoy is In Flames (I fucking love them to death, btw). With that said, the riffs in this song are fucking AWESOME. It only gets knocked down (it probably would have been a 4 tbh) because those might be the worst vocals from a death metal band I’ve EVER heard.
1 AcidRainLTE: Textures – “Laments of an Icarus”: So when I first turned this song on, I thought it was something out of my roommate’s stereo, and I almost wanted to turn it off. Thankfully it got better later on, and it ended up okay overall, but I can’t see myself getting too into this…
Overall, I think this round was a bit weaker than the previous ones.
