Another great MM performance and sound.

Nice! MM has rarely at all connected with me with his playing, but this was damn good. A little on top of the beat, but that's just him. And yea, great sound.

That is the best drum sound I've ever heard come from MM. The song was great too.

It sounds like, "ruk, ruk, ruk, ruk, ruk." Instead of the more pleasing kick drum sound of, "gzarruk, gzarruk, gzarruk, gzarruk."

Does anyone else kinda get the Jason Newsted vibe from Mangini in his interviews? Like real positive about the band, but also kinda like “I’ve been in the band for a decade and I’m not asked to contribute much”. Or every chance to mention how “I just do what I’m told”.

After all these years, I also find a bit strange setences like (paraphrasing) "they didn't asked me to contribute to (with lyrics)". It seems like he's still too much cautious about what he might do or sugest to the band about DT's music.

I think it's different from DT, although there are some Petrucci-esque leads from Gus G here and there. I was sincere in the interview when I said that as soon as the first song started I felt like "oh...its that type of music". It's not my thing...but when I stopped and listened, I liked it a lot. So I thnk if you're open enough to listen to a few songs without preconceptions, you might enjoy it.

One more thing...call me sexist, but for some reason I don't really like female-fronted metal bands in general. However, Jen Majura does an INCREDIBLE job on this album, and I really like her style.

It appeared to me as if he perceives himself as more of an employee rather than an integral part of (welcome to) the family.

1 hour interview and very nice!

Thanks! And I nervously ended it after I ran out of questions...he would have easily stayed on for another 30 minutes.

I had a few more DT related questions, but felt like he really wanted to focus on the solo album, so I left them behind. Next time!

Well to be honest this is what seems to be the case in a sense. JP is running the show pretty much as a producer, and i suppose that coming from the "control freak" nature of MP, maybe the band deliberately wanted a drummer who would be easy-going and will bring minimal disruptions in the band.

Also, MM seems like a very easygoing person, and probably doesn't want to shake things up or cause any conflict in terms of his involvement in the band.

there's an annoying high pitch sound throughout the song, i find it really distracting. for the rest, solid track i guess but boring and not a style i enjoy.

after listening on headphones, it's probably hiss from the hi-hats and some top end of the vocalchain used.

Not really a song for me. Found a lot of the melodies to be a bit awkward and the music didn't do much for me.

Still to this day, friends and I will randomly bust out into the spoken part of that song. Though I probably haven't actually listened to it more than 3 times my whole life when it came out.

Kind of agree, the melodies are a bit awkward indeed.
The solo section is classic Mangini, following the instruments with his drums, always fun to listen to.

A more commercial and electronic AMob? As a fan of AMob's first two albums, I'm okay with that. Cool song and I really like Jen's voice on it. Great drum and bass sounds! Really creative drumming below the guitar solo.

He kept going on and on about the drum sounds. After a couple of listens, I don’t get it. There’s nothing about the drum sound that is better than his sound in DT. Maybe they’re louder in the mix is the biggest difference.

I'm not getting any Amob from that.  It's good; it's competent and well-played, but I'm not sure I'm revisiting it any time soon.

If I'm not mistaken, Jimmy T engineered/mixed this as well.
