Obama is, unfortunately, pretty much the same as every other President.  The system wont allow for anything different, better or worse.

To some he is not the same.....to some he is DRASTICALLY different.  Some have him as the savoir, and some as the greatest enemy to the USA.  But for those who are realistic and objective, and who examine the situation without political bias or emotion.....he looks the same as all the others before him.

I am cautiously satisfied with his presidency at this point. For the longest time he was forced to be mostly reactive ,and there's really only so much leeway you have.
His recent successful wrangling with Congress pleased me personally, because I had hoped his politics would be pragmatic, not ideologic like W's.

Uh, okay.

Then my opinion is that Obama is OK. I wouldn't vote for him again, but I don't think there's going to be any decent alternative so I guess I'll have no choice.

I guess that's where we differ. I see Obama's policies just as ideological as you view W's were. Obama....to me...has tried/is trying to implement an agenda that is very...for lack of a better word....socialist. STOP...don't say it...I am not calling him a socialist per say other than the fact that his intentions...by my interpretation...are a socialist type view.
I personally do not agree with his idea to redistribute wealth and add more welfare assistance from the Federal government. I'd rather find a way to empower people to want to change thier lives and work for what they have rather than continually demeen them and pat them on the head and take care of them.
I'm not a smart enough person to figure out how to do that. I wish I were.

You don't have to vote for any of the major parties. Vote whatever floats your boat, which candidate you actually support the most you know? Most people don't think that way because they think a vote for anything but the two major parties is a wasted vote - but really that's one of the driving factors to why there are two major parties. Vote Nader or whatever...

Good post and I know what you mean, but it really isn't about being smart enough to do that.  It's about knowing the difference and having the leadership provide opportunity.  Obama wants "everybody" to experience the American Dream, well you just can't give it to "everybody" and not everybody is in the position to be able to get there.  Life is a competition and not everyone is up to or able to the play the game.  It's the job of our elected leaders in this country to make the opportunity more accessible to more people.  That's the key.

a leader vs an egomaniac

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xGBCMyw1oH0&feature=player_embedded

Mybe you’ve already seen this already but it is worth reposting.
The difference between real effective leadership and an egomaniac.
Via The Humble Libertarian:

First, here is President George W. Bush announcing the capture of Saddam Hussein in 2003.

”The success of yesterday’s mission is a tribute to our men and women now serving in Iraq . The operation was based on the superb work of intelligence analysts who found the dictator’s footprints in a vast country. The operation was carried out with skill and precision by a brave fighting force. Our servicemen and women and our coalition allies have faced many dangers in the hunt for members of the fallen regime, and in their effort to bring hope and freedom to the Iraqi people. Their work continues, and so do the risks. Today, on behalf of the nation, I thank the members of our Armed Forces and I congratulate ‘em.”

And, here is Barack Obama’s speech after Osaama Bin Laden was killed last month.

“Tonight, I can report . . . And so shortly after taking office, I directed Leon Panetta . . . I was briefed on a possible lead to bin Laden . . . I met repeatedly with my national security team . . . I determined that we had enough intelligence to take action. . . . Today, at my direction . . . I’ve made clear . . . Over the years, I’ve repeatedly made clear . . . Tonight, I called President Zardari . . . and my team has also spoken. . .These efforts weigh on me every time I, as Commander-in-Chief . . . Finally, let me say to the families . . . I know that it has, at times, frayed. . . .”

The part of the speech you conveniently omitted:

Quote
Tonight, we give thanks to the countless intelligence and counterterrorism professionals who've worked tirelessly to achieve this outcome. The American people do not see their work, nor know their names. But tonight, they feel the satisfaction of their work and the result of their pursuit of justice.

We give thanks for the men who carried out this operation, for they exemplify the professionalism, patriotism, and unparalleled courage of those who serve our country. And they are part of a generation that has borne the heaviest share of the burden since that September day.

Two things:

1. Stop double posting. It's perfectly possibly to edit existing posts to add quotes/responses to other quotes

2. Barto beat me to it. The ellipses imply there was more to the speech. By conveniently 'omitting' them, you place one in a bad light and one in a good light.

whats the point? this is a common theme with obama and his narcist use of "I"  and for the record , he voted against the use of enhanced interogation that led to Osama.. but had the audacity to act like he was "on board" as Holder looks to prosecute those CIA agents who used them... was the point that he had a paragragh without the use of "I"??

Obama is horrible.. its all about him. what an embaressment he is ..and is it "2008" because Odumbass thinks it is..

you catch his "toast" and thinking God Save the Queen" was background music for him? this guy cant make the USA look worse.. did he bring the Queen an Ipod of his speeches like last time? The Uk press is mocking him and Michelle for all the gaffes..

By far the worst President in US History.. and its only 2.5 years...start the countdown to removing this farce..

Regarding the toast, somebody else fucked up the music. That wasn't him.

Regarding the rest of your post, believe what you want to believe. Nothing's going to change your mind, clearly. But in the interest of discussion, you should post reasons WHY you think he's a farce, back up those claims, and incite some discussion. This is not a thread for you to vent in

of course.. Its never Obummers fault.. can you imagine if that was GWB? the press would run him out of town

why is he a farce? cmon.. where to start.. a Jr "zero" Senator from Chicago.. Rezko, Ayers, Dorin, Wright, Plager,Khaladi, Jennings, Obamacare, Acorn, Holder..no executive experience.. no drilling, etc..

why should I change my mind? many hate GWB...Im sure that is not an issue. over half of the USA thinks Obama is horrible..Im in the majority..

you tell me whats better since Obama came into office? tell me..since you want "discussion" adn so do I. so tell me whats better with Obama?
