Yes. It's DT's best by miles.

Orion....that's the one with a bunch of power chords and boringly harsh vocals, isn't it?

The Best Them.
I imagined the story to go more like this.

I was sitting a traffic light blaring Space Dye Vest and next to me in another car was Kevin Moore. And I'll never be open again.

Whoa, oh, ohhh. WHA-UH-OHH. WAHHH-UHHHHHH-AHHHHHHHHHHHHH

That's cool but it's the other stuff that's amazing. Everyone knows about the vocals and the lyrics and the epic guitar solo. But the best part of the song is after all that stuff, when the Wait for Sleep reprise starts and Kevin Moore plays an amazing keyboard solo that makes you feel like all is right with the world.

I agree. It's just that the climax in that moment sums up everything awesome about this band. :)

To be even more precise, I think that the highpoint of the Wait for Sleep reprise is actually the unison that follows the keyboard solo, it just doesn't get any better than that.

Everything after the F# (or whatever the hell it is) is boner-inducing.  Probably DT's best song, only ACoS comes close IMO.

Learning to Live is indeed genius.

The final verse into the bass groove into the outro is absolutely perfect.

And it's a good thing. I hate fadeouts. The only fadeout I've ever felt completely satisfied with is in Supper's Ready by Genesis.

The instrumental build-up for the verse that goes "The way your heart sounds..." is said to be inspired in the moment a couple is reaching climax. True story. I promise.

And it's a good thing. I hate fadeouts.

I hate definitive endings to songs.

Just kidding of course, that's ridiculous.  I don't understand how anybody could have a *fundamental* problem with fadeouts.  They're just a structural element.  Do you hate them even if the music is good and it works and fits the closing of the song well?

They build upon that song as they go then the F# hits you on top of that WFS Reprise gives you the best DT song created.

To me, fadeouts rarely fit. It just makes the ending of the song feel like it's missing something for me. Of course fadeouts would never drag the quality of the rest down, I just never really liked fadeouts at all.

So how could have LTL ended? A power chord?
To me the outro is perfect there was no other way to end it.

Yeah, the outro is one of the best all-time.

What an excellent, excellent song. It was always my favorite of the songs we played live.
Interestingly, I find the F# one of the less exciting parts of the song. Maybe because I have witnessed too many bone-crushing butcherings of that part (both by DT and my band).

The guitar part immediately following it is what I really love.
