i know most of you won't really know much about this. But if you are in a band signed to a record label, could you share any stories of them trying to change you in any way, whether it be change a song, band member, or anything? that would be great, thanks guys

Was there any songs besides "You Not Me" that were record label influenced? I'm guessing some of the B-sides.

thanks guys. If anybody who has actually had any experience in this issue could post a story or something, that would be really helpful.

Hell's Kitchen was supposed to be part of Burning My Soul. The producer split it up. It was a good choice IMO.
Cole: "Ow I just got hit in the balls"
Me: "How?"
Cole: "Well you know when you try to scratch your balls, and you scratch too hard?
I'll admit sometimes I want to listen to Dragonforce.

Well that was the producer more than the record label. I'm referring to stuff like "let's bring in Desmond Child".

Of course record labels do this. You don't need to be in a band to see that.

Just look at Dream Theater since joining Roadrunner.  Their image has really changed since they joined.  They are all into these cheesy metal pictures and shit now.  Definitely influenced by Roadrunner for marketing purposes.  I think that promo video of the new drummers is an example of RR marketing ploys as well.
If anyone in this thread judge him; heyy James WTF? about you in Awake In Japan? Then I will say; WTF about you silly?

but have they influenced the music?
I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

Well considering that the 2 RR releases are both a huge step down in an already sinking quality.. maybe.
