I know you like prog metal...do you like prog rock? Neal's prog stuff is SO FUN. Some people say it can get a bit repetitive (reprises and such), but the music is excellent and is still worth trying. Maybe start with his album ?, it has Portnoy AND Rudess on it, and is considered one of his best.
