Is it just me or does anyone else feel the same about Mangini looking like a cheap porn actress on the first episode? I watched it twice again today and him trying to keep eye contact almost all the time with JP and his facial expressions are like "Oh John,   me"

well, I guess during the auditions he was a faculty (at least that's what shown in the first episode) and now he is not.

Is it weird that I'm the only one here who just... didn't... like Donati's audition?  It just didn't sound like DT to me at all.

Like, there's the riff that you see both Mangini and Donati play.  And because of the way Mangini plays the riff, the riff itself sounds better and more interesting.  Donati didn't give me that quality at all.

I agree with you. I think Roddy and Donati have been the weakest thus far.

when DT threw that new riff with Donati, it reminded me of Planet X, which I thought were awesome. Unless DT were thinking of going in that direction, I could see why VD is not the best choice for DT. He could be, but it doesn't fit his style.

MM and MM are great picks for me, either one will do as far as I can tell. I think it's Mangini, but anything could happen

I didn't say these are actual reasons mostly because I agree with you and I think Mangini is the new drummer, but, I'm just saying some people may know another drummer better than Mangini and think he fits better musically/personally. Also, maybe some people suspect they're not showing all the important/key moments in the documentary. Again, go figure. We'll have a confirmation by Friday either way.

My guess is that Marco wasn't picked, but had such a great chemistery with JR that he was asked by Jordan to join his Mind Meld thing.

Well, actually it can be counted against them if they want to be the DT drummer. All 7 are very talented, so what will distinguish them is very much the style.

Well now, there are still two guys left to audition, you know! And like they said, Mangini went first and was one of the best, so he's the standard they've been comparing to most of the way. Already we've had one other guy who's in the discussion along with him. I think Mangini's far from a foregone conclusion, although he's a strong possibility.
