I have a question for mr. Wildoer:

Which Dream Theater songs did you play during your audition?

And can we talk about the new riff idea they threw at Mangini?  How sick did that new riff sound?
If anyone in this thread judge him; heyy James WTF? about you in Awake In Japan? Then I will say; WTF about you silly?

The only thing that could make this MORE exciting would be if...oh, I dunno...maybe Peter would post more instead of just being a tease and lurking in the thread.  :eyebrows:

I hope the new drummer can write lyrics, because I think Never Enough is going to need a sequel! :p

That first episode was so incredible. Words can't describe my love for this freaking band right now.

And Mangini was amazing. I've reached a point where I'd be disappointed regardless of which drummer they choose, I want all the seven drummers to join the band. They're all so awesome, personally and musically.

Yes let's talk about new riff. More metal than BC&SL.

I have to say - I think DT has really outdone themselves with this whole documentary thing. Not every band would do this kind of thing, so we should feel super lucky.

PLUS - Did anyone else notice that not only did JM actually talk, but he was somewhat animated while talking?! :tup

I had a big WTF moment when JR said that MP wanted the band to take a FIVE year hiatus. I thought he wanted just a year or so.
Same. I was about to tell myself something like "Aaaarrghhh....swallow the rage..."

This.

They were right. It was worth the wait.
Jesus Christ himself* comes down amidst a choir of 2 billion angels singing Handel's Hallelujah chorus. As KrotchRaut shred randomly on guitars made of dragon bones using picks made from God's kidney stones, Jesus heals a blind woman who promptly gives birth onstage to a creation of pure light.

*Yes, Jesus Christ himself. Nothing less will do.

I swear the band don't know what the word "literally" means.

"We have literally been a family"

But that riff can't be new... don't you know that the band wouldn't be playing anything heavy without Portnoy forcing them to?!?

I swear the band don't know what the word "literally" means.

I'm very much looking forward to Lang's audition now.

Also, this episode has gotten 470 members to be logged on at once today. That's quite a bit more than we've had in a long time.

Just watched and enjoyed it, and the stick throwing didn't wind me up this time!
Mangini will certainly be a good fit from the looks of things but there's alot of people here marrying the first girl they sleep with... TL,MM and VD (oh that's unfortunate...) to come.

The best thing about this for me is the seeming love for each other. I know this was filmed months ago, so maybe
feelings may have changed a little bit, but it gives me hope that they can still end up being friends again some day.
Moreso than any future music, I just want them to be friends again someday. And after seeing that I really believe
they will be. It helps me put things in the proper perspective.

For some reason I want the new drummer to be the British guy. Don't know anything about any of the 7 drummers, but I like the idea of a British guy in Dream Theater.

So at around 12:27 of the first episode, Jordan goes to start of ANTR with the thunderstorm sound clip, but instead ends up playing a clip that says "Does this hurt you? Does this hurt you?"

Since I'm fairly certain that sound clip isn't featured anywhere in DT discography, would it be safe to assume that it will show up somewhere in the new album?
It'd be interesting to know what context that clip fits into, if it is.

I really hope footage of the full auditions is made available eventually, it seems a waste to have footage of these amazing drummers jamming and only seeing short clips.
