Uh, yes.  Since I have now said twice in this thread that YouTube links are off-limits, you think I might possibly get a little peeved at people doing it anyway?

Sorry, haven't followed this at all, just saw it on youtube, haven't read through this thread at all.
Then don't post links to things until you've checked whether it's ok to post them!

Someone had mentioned earlier that this video/documentary was almost the same as American Idol, but I disagree.

Otherwise we'd be able to vote for the new drummer, and that'd be wayyy too much of a shitfest.

So the winner is SteveTheater, he was the first guy to say that we were going to have this kind of process. I believed him and affirmed according to that post when people asked about the process of revealing the drummer. ariich said it was just a rumour, but it wasn't. O ye of little faith :emindead:

Could someone post the Youtube link.

No.  I already said no Y&T links.  Sorry.  (besides, it was taken down)
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related

From Peter Wildoer a few minutes ago on FB:

Peter Wildoer
Hey!

Finally the news are out!!! Yes I did audition for Dream Theater. I've been bursting to tell everyone but it's not been possible. Go to Dream Theater and see the video that was released today about the audition.

More to come on this soon.
...
I'll be updating my newly designed www.peterwildoer.com with more news asap.

Cheers,
Peter

Thanks to all of you for your kind words!!! All I can say is that I auditioned and I can't tell who got the gig. But, it was a hell of a ride this whole audition thing!!! :-) A cool story to tell my son when he turns a teenager and think his dad is a loser, ha ha ha... ;-) All the other six drummers are my drumming idols and I'm immensely honored to have been part of that list!!!!!!!!!!!!

Peter Wildoer -My audition started with two jams where we set the levels for in ears and just felt eachother out, musically that is. ;-) After that we went through the three songs they sent me. I guess you'll get to know what songs it was on the next ep...isode of the DT video. ;-) At last they wanted to try some new ideas. This was HAAAAAAAAARD! The ideas were in weird odd times and not one bar with the same meter. Very cool ideas and I got my head around it so and so after a while. If those ideas end up on the new DT album it will be PROG! :-)

Oh wow! Very cool.

Cheers for going to the trouble! And to Peter for responding so candidly. Thank him from us. Although, might be a bit freaky. "Hey Peter, this conversation is being leched over by strangers as it happens." No, actually, don't thank him from us. Still! Nice.

Peter- All drummers used the same kit, yes. Auditions were held in New York so no chance to bring my own. I got to meet Virgil Donatio for almost two hours and we had a great chat in his hotel room. That alone made my trip!!! He's on my absolute to three list of my drumming heroes! :-)
