YEAH! Changing a setting on a computer that takes two seconds is BULLSHIT!
It's bullshit because that application does not conform to the same security standards. Anything that makes you downgrade your security level in order to use is inherently poorly made.

To clarify: this is a complaint about the app, not DT or the video. The video was awesome and it was cool to see all the drummers. Even Priester.. lol

What were you guys waiting for? This is promo at its best. We'll get to see an indepth look at the auditions. We are incredibly lucky as fans!! They could have just said: "Our drummer is Mike Mangini, alright lets move on!" But no, they're allowing us to share these special moments they had when looking for a new drummer.

I've got to say: Never Enough. As usual.

I was with you until you touted Never Enough.

This but then again they know what's best for the band. I'll be watching these videos and rooting for Lang even though it's probably not him, I'm still hoping it is!

Alright, so I watched it. Not too impressed, it relies on this cliffhanger thing way too much. If there's a full documentary, I bet it's going to be found on the new album (or rather the special edition of it).

I hope they release videos of each drummer.  I love in the studio/jamming stuff.

It would be interesting if they did this, one a day/week eliminating a drummer each time, leading up to the eventual announcement of the new album's art, track listing and drummer. Then release the full documentary with an LE version of the album.

Raziel666

So, the video is named: Dream_Theater-Drummer_Doc_Trailer_v3

I guess there are other versions as well, since this is tagged _v3?

How long till its on Youtube. Can't see it on phone.

Bill Carson

So do you reckon Mangini got it to keep the band all american...I mean over the likes of Marco, Lang & Donati in particular ?

robwebster

My favourite bit:

Some people being disappointed that they didn't reveal the name of the new drummer, on a day they weren't planning to announce the name of the new drummer.

Very good promo. And a full length feature on it! Looks really well directed.

Thanks, jdprsaga!  I didn't recognize anyone in the video and so I was putting together a master list like this based on everyone else's posts and I got the same list as you.

Well, at least this video inspired me to listen to TCOT again.

And despite what I said in the previous post, I quite liked it. I hope for a full documentary, but the style of the video... Borderline ridiculous. :lol

Was one of those guys Priester?

Yes.  And I'm genuinely shocked.

Good video, by the way.  But I was cracking up watching it and thinking about rumborak's post.  @rumby for totally calling that one:

If it wasn't for the fact that you predicted it right down to the cheesy, deep-voiced narrator, I wouldn't be laughing nearly as hard.  I'm STILL laughing!

Adami

I have no idea what any of you expected. The album doesn't come out for months. If they just told us who the new drummer was, excitement would die off very quickly. This is a way to keep up excitement at least closer to their first show or when the album comes out. It's their first smart move in a very long time.

Aramatheis

Anyone notice the lack of commentary by Myung?

If there is a full length documentary or what-have-you, I hope he actually says something

OsMosis2259

I know this is asking for too much but can someone put the name of the drummer and then like a time stamp next to it...

I dont know who anyone is  :-\

Rafael Guerra

I took a screenshot in the moment where one of the drummers is holding a letter. I'm trying to figure out what it says:

"To The World's Greatest Drummers, welcome to the auditions! We are sorry we don't have a practice room. But we do have something for you  to practice on - and doing so well provides instant glorification, the [something] inside!

Please attack this drum with the mallet we've provided, just as you are going to do for real in the studio! :)
Best wishes to an audition that blows everyone away!"

This is probably a FAIL transcription, feel free to help me out....if you have nothing better to do, like me.

Man. I'm not so much into that "America's, err, DT's next top drummer" thing I have to say.

rumborka

I don't see it like that. I think it is a original and fun way for us to know who got the gig, rather than a simple press release mentionning 'X is our new drummer'

Dunno. I mean, the letter each drummer got when they arrived? "Welcome to the Dream Theater auditions?" That's taken straight from America's Next Top Model and all those other reality shows. And James sitting behind the mixing board saying "we'd like to welcome you at this point to the family". That's exactly Ryan Seacrest style. "Drummer X ...... you are through to the next round."

Dunno, just saying.

Yeah but why can't we just be excited for a new album like we usually are.  Why would excitement for a new album taper off?  It's a new album!

Same reason excitement had already died off greatly before this video was announced.

Aniland, please cut it out.

As someone who is legitimately not instigating anything, lemme know what you want me to cut out? No disrespect.

rumborak

I have no qualms with them stretching it out now, that's how they will maintain interest until the album comes out.
My only concern is that DT is joining in with other "illustrous" reality-TV bands like INXS etc.

rumborak

7StringedBeast

They could have just told us who it was and so we could know and not have us strung along.  But now its clear, the reason for not hearing about anything was because they were filming a full on doc.  So they had to shoot and edit it.  I'm sure that's what the delay has been now.

Rumby makes a good point about the American Idol thing.  It does seem like all this shit was kinda played out for the camera.  I wonder if this was a road runner idea.  It seems like it was.  I dunno it gives me a bad feeling.

nikatapi

What is disappointing for me besides the whole reality-like atmosphere, is the lack of a date for the announcement.
"to find out exactly when and how the momentous announcement about the band's new lineup will be made" was in the first announcement, yet we didn't get a date.
