he's got an Italian interviewer and so he's lapsing into Italian speech patterns and rhythms.
Probably this.

EDIT: He mentions that they're in Italy, so the above statement must be true. If I interpreted the interview correctly, he had been spending time in Italy recording with an artist, which would give plenty of opportunity for those speech patterns and rhythms to reappear.

have you seen this interview before?

It's not about DT
though I don't want this guy to be the new drummer really
He is so weird!

He was clearly just being funny with the accent and Italian passion because he was in Italy and figured he'd screw around with the interviewer. I love that vid. It's hilarious. Definitely not to be taken seriously.

I'm going to be nervous checking the forum tomorrow.  I want to get a quick link to part 3, but I don't want to spoil myself by looking at any other posts or thread titles. =/

Just bookmark this and you're set: https://www.youtube.com/roadrunnerrecords

There wasnt anything slightly humerous about the interview.. I think he just picked up the rhythm pattern

I think it could.
Back to the documentary, after watching the second part again, i don't regret voting for Donati the first time in the place your bets thread, this guy is a freak of nature, such a creative drummer. He would certainly change even the most simple and established beats, but i really want to see all the jamming, i believe he came up with great stuff.

That lack of compositional creativity is something I've always been worried about with Mangini.  Its the main reason I haven't been pulling for him.  If he gets along great with the guys, then cool, hopefully he can really step it up on the new album.  I know he can play the stuff, but so can Marco, and Marco's a heckuvalot more creative.

my thoughts from the beginning, but i will reserve judgment on the new DT drummer til i hear the album

This, and also who knows if he wrote parts for this next one at all?  How do we know he didn't come to find the drum parts written for the new album?  And I'm sure the guys write drum parts sometimes.

- DT jam's out idea's as a whole band then takes the seeds of these ideas and develops them.
- John reiterated this whole process in part 2
- This is common practice
- This is also what test 2 and 3 of the audition directly relate to
- Do you seriously think they would have pre-written drum parts? I mean really.

It's half the length and it's jumped pretty fast. I think there was a 20 page jump with either the trailer or the first video. I really wouldn't be surprised in a 70 page jump over the course of the day.

Especially tomorrow, because it will be The Conclusion of the documentary. Hopefully The Conflict of who the drummer is will be resolved and we will see the drummer walk through The Door.

I agree.  Donati doesn't seem to get due respect here at least in the context of his audition, but I thought it was pretty amazing.  Perhaps people didn't like other things about him - he's relatively reserved, older, and holds his drum sticks classic style.  While I think the drummer should be very engaging to the audience, especially since MP was so good at that, it doesn't mean that the guy doesn't completely rock it on the drums.  Donati is extremely creative and competent - just lacks some intangible image/personality qualities that apparently people care more about.

Not sure if this has been posted yet, so I will apologize up front if it has. I thought it had a lot of good background.

My question is why did they draw this out so long?!? According to the producer's video, it was so they could crete hype with this documentary.
