I've been making hip hop beats for about a decade now and at first was against sampling because i wanted to make all original beats. So i did that but later i realized almost all of my favorite hip hop songs were done using samples so why was i fighting it? Then i got into it and fell in love with going through all kinds of music and picking certain sections and seeing if i could create something new from it. I got pretty good at i think and i through doing it i've discovered all kinds of great music that i never would have if i didn't get into it. I'm going to start it off with a few examples but this is meant for people to share their favorites and maybe we can all discover some new/ old music.

I remember reading somewhere that in his later years, Dre would actually get orchestras, bands etc to play the things he wanted to sample and just record that so he could have more control over it.  Pretty awesome.

Nah sorry dude.  I read it in an interview with the drummer Dre uses.  Whose name escapes me right now.

My brother is a pretty good rapper and he writes his own music and stuff.  He uses quite a few samples I think.  Mostly random, obscure so there's less chance of trouble :lol
